BACKGROUND

 

INARA provides life-altering medical care and reconstructive surgery for children (0-18 years) who have injuries due to war, blasts, or unsafe living conditions, and are unable to access or afford treatment. INARA’s work consists of filling the gap in access to free of charge medical and surgical treatment. INARA also supports ongoing cases with medication, medical equipment (such as prosthetic, eyeglasses, glass eyes, hearing aids), laboratory and diagnostic testing, transportation, accommodation prior/post-surgery, and other therapeutic regimens (speech therapy, physiotherapy, psychotherapy). In addition, INARA provides psychiatric and psychological therapy services to children in need through its in-house mental health program.

DESCRIPTION

 

INARA is looking to hire a Mental Health Case Worker on a full-time basis in Lebanon to support our Mental health program in case management with the below tasks and responsibilities .

Please note that INARA does not cover any relocation costs for this position.

 

INARA has a PSEA Policy that the successful candidate will be expected to comply with and promote.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Screen children receiving medical care from INARA, for any requiring mental health assistance, using a set of screening tools.
  • Refer cases to psychologist/psychiatrist for assessment when needed.
  • Receive new referrals received from other agencies and screen them thoroughly before they are brought in for first assessment; addressing INARA’s inclusion criteria, conducting an SES evaluation, filling screening tools and analyzing results to decide on further referral to psychologist/psychiatrist.
  • Explaining and assisting in signing the consent form, communicating effectively with caregivers on the needs of their children relating to mental health assessments/services.
  • Communicate effectively and directly with other service providers in order to collaborate and make referrals according to the best interests of children. Referrals might include: child protection, speech/psychomotor therapy, or neuropsychological assessment, etc.)
  • Provide feedback of actions taken to other agencies, when necessary and appropriate in light of confidentiality requirements.
  • Managing internal referrals to other health practitioners, and lab requests, and ensuring all feedback and documents are attached to our data platform.
  • Manage prescriptions, obtaining approval for medication coverage, providing patients with their medications.
  • Scheduling appointments with psychiatrist and psychotherapists for first assessments and follow-up sessions.
  • Manage transportation coverage for beneficiaries.
  • Managing cases on INARA’s data platform including opening patient files, registering the demographic information, attaching documents, medical results etc.,
  • Keep record of encounters through various forms in accordance with using INARA’s digital platforms and tools to ensure proper documentation. and keeping track of patient’s need for follow up with psychiatrist or other care providers, or case closure etc
  • Conduct household visits to the beneficiaries when needed.
  • Work closely with the Mental Health team (psychotherapist/psychiatrist) to develop and follow up on the intervention plans.
  • Apply the National SOPs, while use Best Interests Assessments (BIA) and Best Interests Determination (BID) procedures when are requested or needed.
  • Ensure Do No Harm analysis are carried out and the principle of Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagements of the Case Worker.

 

Job Requirements:

University degree (BA or Masters) in Social Work or other relevant field. Preferably BA in Medical& Social work or psychology.

Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in Social Work and Case Management Intervention

                    

Professional Competencies

  • Demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, respect, empathy and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries.
  • Good knowledge in MHPSS and Child Protection
  • Fluent in Arabic language
  • Good knowledge of English language (verbal fluency and written expression)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Previous working experience with children and adolescents
  • Previous work with NGOs is a plus
