PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project will empower young women to take control over their career choices by providing skills and opportunities to increase their employability and support them to make informed life choices. This will be achieved through high quality career services and life skills training and a suitable job placement and/or vocational training. Given the precarious economic situation for businesses, the project will strengthen the capacity and resilience of MSEs to withstand the current crises, thereby increasing the likelihood that women will remain employed after job placement. The project will improve Public-Private dialogue and engagement by promoting collaboration between the private sector, SDCs and project beneficiaries. In addition, the project will encourage women rights and regulatory frameworks conducive to growth of youth and women-led enterprises and decent working conditions.

PROJECT MODALITIES (Food, Cash, Capacity Strengthening, Technical and Specialist Services): Cash, Capacity Strengthening, Technical and Economic Empowerment Gender Equality.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Career counselling and life skills sessions are delivered to 540 young women from 18 to 29 years old.
  • 25 facilitators from 8 SDCs and 2 local NGOs are better prepared to deliver high-quality employability programmes.
  • Targeted young women receive conditional stipend throughout their job placement and vocational training attendance.
  • Technical skills and knowledge of targeted young women is enhanced
  • Job matching is offered to targeted vulnerable young women
  • Micro and small enterprises are supported by a tailored business plan

 

LOCATION / REGION: Nabaa, Shatila, Burj al-Barajneh, Tripoli, Beddawi and Naher al-Bared

 

 

Scope of Work/Assignment:

 

The high quality Employability Consultant is responsible for providing capacity building to local NGOs and Social Development Centers (SDCs) on high quality employability programmes through coaching, mentoring and provision of TOT to facilitators to be able leading career guidance programmes, to holistically create comprehensive and sustainable employment and skills development opportunities, with special focus on social inclusion and outreach to vulnerable young women through promoting the employability of young women/girls through job placement is one of the strategic ways to create opportunities, develop skills and increase their employability.

 

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Design and deliver high quality employability workshops to SDC and local partners Staff to increase their employability skills and support them in making progress towards achieving employment
  • Propose sustainability of the project’s intervention through project’s implementation and connecting existing partners of NGOs and SDCs with the development of the young women girls employability scheme.
  • Supporting the SDCs and Local Partners` staff with an understanding of employability  strategies and plan.
  • Deliver topics and modalities for the capacity building of NGOs & SDCs facilitator for the strengthening of their capacity in career guidance to serve the needs of most vulnerable young girls/women including outreach, vulnerability assessment process and selection, matching with job market.
  • Training on the outreach of the most vulnerable girls/women and conduct of the vulnerability assessment process.
  • Training on the linkage of youth women with the job market, career guidance mentoring and coaching
  • Creation of job network for referrals to job placement.
  • Increasing the capacity of local NGOs and SDCs facilitators in enhancing and recovery of most vulnerable MSEs
  • Provide information, advices and guidance to the facilitator on key knowledge areas including; CVs, Job searching, Interview skills Coaching and Training/Vocational, to enhance current and future employability.
  • Analyze and understand current employment context and related opportunities.
  • Use labor market information to research and build additional relationships with employers, creating further employment opportunities appropriate to the needs of the most vulnerable young women.
  • Job match of young women/girls with vacancies and opportunities.
  • Carry out detailed job analysis to understand and guide on reasonable adjustments to maximize the likelihood of successful and sustainable employment services and encourage appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain a record system, case notes and other electronic files to a high standard to ensure high quality standards.

 

Reporting/Communication:

  • Draft narrative and quantitative reports as per SIF internal requirements and donor requirements.
  • Ensure internal communication and information sharing on project with relevant staff (Livelihoods manager, Programme Coordinator)

     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Advanced University degree in Business, Economics, Social Sciences or any other field relevant to development.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of previous experience in development work and high employability quality programmes.
  • Languages: Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in the high-quality employability through private sector, Businesses, and cooperative organizations.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to women rights, gender, humanitarian, development issues, and protection response.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a supportive technical and communication style.
  • Ability to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with partners including local authorities.
  • Understanding the cultural norms, traditions, and the socio economic situation of Beirut/Mount Lebanon and North areas.
  • Understanding of the structural, social and financial struggles of vulnerable job-seekers
  • An understanding of and commitment to SIF’s mission and values
  • Patience and positive attitude is highly requested
  • Strong market and private sector knowledge
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent command of written and oral English and Arabic
  • Good Presentation skills
