CESVI is currently preparing for the inception phase of an education project funded by AICS, the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation: “Education 4 Future: integrated services for education and protection for children in Lebanon”. The project shall contribute to guarantee access to education and improved well being for children living in Bourj Hammou area, enhancing their participation to improved and inclusive educational paths, in collaboration with institutional stakeholders, at national and local level.
As Education Coordinator, the Collaborator will support the Project Manager, coordinating the implementation of the Project activities.
S/He will also support in developing and/or strengthening systems, practices and tools that contribute to sound project result-oriented management and the fulfilment of accountability standards.
The Collaborator will work under the supervision of the Project Manager, in coordination with program staff. He/She will be also coordinating with the relevant department of the organization in order to guarantee the smooth implementation of the activities (logistics, finance, MEAL departments).

Activities related to the role of the Education Officer/Coordinator:

Support the effective implementation of the project Education’s component
• Works in close collaboration with the Project Manager for the preparation, coordination, implementation and supervision on the field of the project’s education activities, and ensures consistency between them and the expected objectives and results;
• Supervise the Cash for Education activity, by coordinating with MEHE and school principals and teachers;
• Plan and set up Awareness Campaigns for school retention targeting children and caregivers;
• Supervise the distribution of items, such as School Kits;
• Conduct regular field visits;

Representation of the organization in front of relevant Stakeholders

• Provide expertise and support for the overall project implementation, by coordinating with the Field Coordinator, Schools Directors, teachers, project Partners and any other relevant stakeholders;
• Consolidates strong relations with schools, local authorities and partners;
• Represent the organization at the regional Working Groups of Education and Child Protection and coordinate with the relevant actors in the area

Support the adequate monitoring of the education activities

• Coordinate with MEAL Department in order to ensure the continuous tracking of the project’s outputs indicators;
• Provides support in the development of monitoring tools;
• Systematizes the data collected during the project, through the development of databases;
• Assist in the preparation of intermediary and final reports.

Supervise the implementation of the projects’ activities by the Partners
• Ensures the follow-up of activities with the local partner;
• Conduct periodic visit to the partners’ centers where the activities are implemented;
• Whenever needed, support the partners in guaranteeing the alignment with the project objectives, targets and timeline, in collaboration with the PM;

Support CESVI Educational Programming

• Support the Program Staff in the identification of needs, conduction of assessment, drafting of new project proposal in the education sector

Required Criteria for the selection of the Education Officer/Coordinator

- University degree preferably Development Studies, Social Sciences or related fields;
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in similar positions in the education sector; a preferential title will be having already
worked in projects funded by AICS;

- Strong knowledge of the Education sector in Lebanon and coordination mechanisms;

Previous experience in Cash Assistance programs is an asset;

Previous experience and familiarity with Child Protection projects is an asset;

Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken Arabic;

Good knowledge of both written and spoken English and Arabic;

- Familiarity with the tools of the Office package (particularly Excel);

Excellent knowledge of the local context the local culture, customs and traditions;

Excellent propensity to work in sensitive contexts and awareness for social and cultural diversity;

Good report writing and communication skills;  

Ability to manage stressful situations;

Proved intercultural mediation skills;

A valid driving license B.

Previous experience in the targeted areas will be considered an asset.
