Decolonising Access to Health, Addressing Vaccine Inequity in MENA.
Vaccination policies in response to the ongoing pandemic are reinforcing globally the commodification of healthcare, furthering inequity notably in countries of the global South. By late April 2021, it was reported that more than 80% of the world’s COVID-19 vaccines had gone to people in wealthy countries, with just 0.3% to people in low-income countries. In countries from the global south, most of the vaccines were distributed through charity and donations, notably through multilateral collaborations with the World Health Organisation. In the MENA region, vaccination campaigns are progressing slowly, with varying challenges, depending on each context, in securing vaccine supplies and in the vaccination process.
This webinar aims to address vaccine inequity in the MENA region, and will look into challenges specific to local contexts.

تؤدّي سياسات التلقيح المُعتمَدة لمواجهة الجائحة المستمرّة إلى "تسليع" الرعاية الصحّية على مستوى العالم، معمّقةً بذلك أوجه عدم المساواة وخصوصًا في دول الجنوب. فبحسب ما تُشير إليه التقارير حتّى أواخر شهر نيسان ٢٠٢١، توجّهت أكثر من ٨۰% من لقاحات كورونا إلى سكّان الدول الغنية، مقابل ٠.٣% فقط لسكّان الدول ذات الدخل المحدود. وفي بلدان الجنوب، تمّ توزيع معظم اللقاحات بواسطة الأعمال الخيرية والتبرّعات، ولا سيّما من خلال تعاون أطراف عدّة مع منظّمة الصحّة العالمية. وأمّا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، فتسير حملات التلقيح ببطء وسط تحدّيات متعدّدة تختلف بحسب البلد، وأبرزها يرتبط بتأمين مستلزمات اللقاح وحسن سير عملية التلقيح.
تهدف هذه الندوة الافتراضية إلى البحث في مسألة عدم المساواة في الحصول على اللقاح في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، بالإضافة إلى مناقشة التحدّيات المرتبطة بالسياقات المحلّية.
