Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with various departments within RI to ensure that MHPSS initiatives are seamlessly integrated into broader programs, such as health, education, and livelihoods, as well as overall organizational goals and strategies.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Provide expert guidance on MHPSS issues, including the latest evidence-based practices, treatment modalities, and interventions.
  • Ensure that all MHPSS programs adhere to best practices and provide technical MHPSS support throughout all stages of the project cycle management.
  • Develop a program supervision and feedback mechanism, using stakeholder feedback to improve program quality.

 

Coordination:

  • Act as a central point of contact for all MHPSS-related activities, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration among different stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Closely coordinate with the Program Managers, MEAL Manager, and other Senior Management Departments (i.e. Human Resources, Finance, and Supply Chain and Operations).
  • Coordinate with the National Mental Health Program (NMHP) to ensure the implementation of the MH integration and the pilot MH packages in the supported primary health care centers (PHCCs).
  • Attend all external coordination meetings (i.e. partners, task force working groups, sector coordination meetings etc.) and internal meetings.
  • Conduct bi-lateral meetings with MHPSS actors in RI’s operational areas to ensure complementarity in service provision and prevent duplication.

 

Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the MHPSS component, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure that the MHPSS team is adequately trained, supervised, and supported in their roles.
  • Manage all MHPSS team members, including the MHPSS Supervisors, Clinical Psychologist, Case Manager, Psychiatrist, and Technical Advisor.

 

Program Development:

  • Contribute to program development including but not limited to actively participating in the design of MHPSS interventions, setting clear goals and objectives, and defining key performance indicators.
  • Develop and update MHPSS policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) not only to guide the organization's approach but also serve as a resource for partners in aligning their efforts.
  • Support the integration of MHPSS into the all RI sector program to bolster the interconnectedness of MHPSS and overall well-being, particularly in vulnerable populations.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL):

  • Implement robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress and impact of MHPSS programs.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of interventions, collect data, and use evidence for informed decision-making and program improvement.
  • Ensure and effectively respond to safeguarding and accountability concerns and request as they arise.

 

Capacity Building:

  • Identify training needs within the MHPSS team and organize training sessions to enhance their skills.
  • Collaborate with RI's HR department to recruit and onboard qualified MHPSS staff, when necessary.
  • Build the capacity of staff from other departments, as needed (i.e. Community Health Workers).

 

Reporting and Donor Compliance:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on MHPSS program activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Share these reports with relevant stakeholders, including donors, senior management, and partner organizations.
  • Work closely with the Awards and Partnerships Department on reporting required and donor compliance requests.

 

Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the importance of MHPSS within the organization and the broader humanitarian and development sector.
  • Present at sector working group and task force meetings, when available.

 

Emergency Response:

  • Prepare to respond to MHPSS needs during emergencies or crises.
  • Provide immediate support and organize rapid MHPSS interventions as required for the MHPSS team in the field facing urgent matters.

 

Human Resources:

  • Participate in defining job descriptions and Terms of Reference (ToRs) for MHPSS staff, recruitment, training, and coaching of team members to build local capacities.
  • Update and revise the competency framework for MHPSS team members as needed.
  • Participate in objective setting and performance appraisal for MHPSS staff.
  • Follow-up on staff support interventions to ensure RI staffs’ mental health is adequately addressed.
