About LADE

LADE is a Lebanese non-profit and non-partisan organization advocating for election integrity and fair representation as two vital pillars for a functional democracy. Since its establishment in 1996, the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) has been heavily involved in instigating electoral reform on a national level through a set of well-designed interventions amongst which election monitoring constitutes a corner-stone for a viable parliament, where it features as a necessary tool to assess the electoral framework and propose amendments when needed. The association's early efforts reached paramount in 1998 with the implementation and management of a full-fledged campaign aiming at restoring local elections across Lebanon for the first time since the breakout of the Lebanese Civil War. Consequently, LADE’s role grew further and as a leading reformist organization. LADE’s awareness extended throughout the years to cover pre-elections, e-day and post-elections activities. Moreover, the association has been able, in a short period of time, to catch up with the academic and societal debates around media ethics and gender participation and has successfully developed a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to citizenship and electoral reform.

Project Overview

This project aims to increase youth political activism by altering the relationship between youth and their representatives and to empower them (youth) with solid knowledge on important electoral reforms.

Job Purpose: 

To develop a booklet that shall tackle major electoral reforms vis-à-vis electoral agenda that need to be addressed and have effects on youth political participation.

The content of this booklet shall:

1-Revise and analyze 44/2017 electoral law provisions.

2-Present an analytical review on youth political status engagement in Lebanon vis-à-vis the current situation.

3-Address means to engage youth in politics in local and national levels.

The aim of this booklet is to introduce various electoral reforms like lowering voting age, voting within the district of residence, Gender quota, specifying the parliament’s term in office, canceling the preferential vote and their effect on enhancing political participation of youth in Lebanon.

The content of this booklet will be delivered to 100 youth in order help them design their future action plans in align with what has been referred as recommendations in the booklet to tackle different stakeholders.

Main Task

-To perform related desk and literature reviews about the subject.

-To take by all the necessary research methods the consultant find suitable to gather all the required information.

-To perform background research on youth in leadership and success stories to be included in the booklet.

-To work with LADE’s project manager on developing the chapters and examples that will be incorporated in the booklet , taking into consideration all the remarks and adjustments required by LADE

-To conduct a two day training on “how to use the booklet” for t LADE trainers.

Deliverables

As part of his/her work the successful candidate is expected to submit the following deliverables:

- An outline of the booklet that he/she will develop

- A comprehensive and user-friendly booklet written in Arabic Language.

- A training agenda and material for the TOT.
