Coordinator - Arabic as Foreign Language

The Levantine Institute of Tripoli (LEVIT) is a social entreprise offering Levantine Dialect and Modern Standard Arabic programs classes in Tripoli and online with our platform www.levantineonline.com.

LEVIT also runs a learning center MAAN for underprivileged children from the neighborhood who have a chance to take free English and French lessons given by our foreign students and also participate in a variety of sport and artistic activities besides their regular classes every day.  Our exchange programs facilitate linguistic educational support for children lost within the Lebanese school systems and leave our students with a long-lasting memory of their time spent in Tripoli, volunteering/exchanging while also improving student´s Arabic skills in complete cultural immersion. 

LEVIT also organizes the events on the monthly basis that are open to the public as well. So in addition to the foreign students taking the Arabic courses in LEVIT, also broader public of Tripoli participates in the presentations in order to get familiar with different aspects of Lebanese society including economic, political, cultural and other topics.

The Coordinator’s role is to supervise work of teachers, create content, assess level of student’s, create homogeneous classes, participate in the human resources recruitment and evaluation process. 

Job is part-time at the moment but could potentially evolve into a full time. 

Opportunities to teach Arabic as a foreign language in parallel to this position.

Education team supervision, training and evaluation

• Checks the quality of the teaching and makes sure the highest standards are met.
• Through the feedback of students, identifies teacher’s challenges and give support.
• Makes a monthly evaluation of teachers.
• Prepares training sessions for teachers and reinforce capacities of the team.
• Act as a link between students and the management for any remarks and complains.

Preparing and distributing lessons, designing programs

• Prepares and distributes lessons to teachers according to levels.
• Creates contents and updates curriculum.

Reporting and meetings

• Monthly reporting to management.
• Weekly team meetings with teachers.

Screening students and organize classes

• Screens all students for registration.
• Creates homogenous classes.
• Keeps on updating placement test and research new approaches.

Human resources

• Participates in recruitment of new teachers.

Experience and qualifications: 

• Al least +3 years in education a coordinator in an Education project. 
• Prior experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language. 
• BA or Master in Education or related fields.
• Diploma in teaching Arabic as a foreign language

Essential Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate, plan and prioritise activities.

• Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills (e.g. Word/Excel).

• Proactive, innovative, and flexible with a problem-solving approach where systems can be improved.

• Determined and committed to the highest quality standards.

• Ability to integrate into an international team and establish effective working relationships with colleagues.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure.
