Project Engineer

DESCRIPTION: 

Funded by the USAID, the Rene Moawad Foundation (RMF) is implementing the “Building Alliance for Local Advancement, Development, and Investment” BALADI program which aims at supporting local municipalities in all 25 districts of Lebanon (except Beirut Capital) and which demonstrate a real commitment to participatory, equitable, and effective decentralized local governance and economic development.

Through the BALADI program, RMF funds projects that improve reliable and affordable public services, expand broad citizen participation, particularly youth and women, and advance social capital.

Safad el Battikh is a typical village located in Bint Jbeil District / Nabatiyeh Governorate (100 km away from Beirut). 

The project “Establish a Tourism Park/Garden in Safad el Battikh” aims at establishing a public garden in Safad el Battikh village, on a land belonging to the Municipality. The garden, which will be managed directly by the Municipality, is expected to include a central yard, a playground for children, eight pergola pavilions to be used by families who spend the day at the garden, and a covered area that will be rented by the Municipality for private events (weddings, birthdays) and that will include a small restaurant/café to be operated by a third party.

As part of their contribution, Safad el Battikh municipality will be handling part of civil works. 

2.  Summary of Position

Assisting RMF BALADI in designing and supervising works related to this project, in line with architecture and engineering requirements of USAID. Specific duties and responsibilities will be sent to short-listed candidates directly.

 3.  Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 5+ years professional experience in design.
• 5+ years professional experience in construction sites.
• Qualified in language and writing skills and ability to produce high quality professional reports, and technical summaries.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in the office and travel on-location.
• Mastery of computerized tools, specifically with Autocad, Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Fluent in English and Arabic.

References for construction projects designs during the past five years have to be provided.

4.  Eligibility Criteria

This mission is open to individual engineers or engineering consulting firms that have the capacity to enter a consulting contract and shall have a satisfactory performance record and record of integrity and business ethics.
