Requirement: Regional Training of Trainers (ToT) on GBV Emergency Safe Sheltering

About the project
ABAAD, through this project, intends to strengthen national systems capacities to enhance protection and mitigation of gender-based violence (GBV) against women and girls in Lebanon among Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities, and to contribute to supporting vulnerable groups in displacement situations to be capacitated and empowered to move out of dependency on aid and choose a durable solution, as appropriate. This project will also ensure opportunities for development, prevention, safety, and protection for women and girl survivors and at-risk of GBV in Lebanon through addressing and enhancing their abilities to cope with adversity, mitigate and deconstruct conflict in their direct environments and communities, and tackle the legislative frameworks and policies that affect them directly.
GBV is a persistent challenge facing international and local community organizations in their efforts to mitigate the fall-out of crisis, conflict, and displacement. One of the ways in which organizations have tried to do so was in establishing shelters that respond to the needs of women and girls who have experienced GBV.
In October 2018, ABAAD launched the regional Unified Standardized Operational Procedures toolkit on GBV Emergency Safe Sheltering programming. Following this, ABAAD proposes to conduct a regional ToT on the developed toolkit targeting institutions that provide safe sheltering services in the MENA region and with the aim to improve the quality of services and accommodation for women and their children, and to bring visions, approaches and programs that serve the advancement of women’s human rights.
Overall goal of this assignment
The overall goal of this assignment is to conduct a regional ToT on ABAAD toolkit on GBV Emergency Safe Sheltering Programming targeting 25 institutions that provide safe sheltering services in the MENA region.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design the general outline for the trainings
- Conduct a regional ToT on the ABAAD’s aforementioned toolkit
- Submit a final report upon completion of the training
Skills required
- Advanced university degree in relevant field such as Psychology, Social Science, or Social work and relevant work experience;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proven and extensive experience in facilitating sessions and meetings for an audience with different backgrounds and varied levels of familiarity with topics related to mental health, gender, and human rights;
- Extensive expertise in gender, GBV, and case management.
