Marketing and communication freelancer

SKL International is looking for an innovative and experienced Marketing and Communication freelancer. The project is financed by the Swedish Government as part of its regional support for the Syrian crisis.

In Lebanon, the project works with two Unions of Municipalities, and underlying municipalities, and other local actors in the Akkar governorate. The project is managed by a national team through a local office in Halba, Akkar.   

The position will report to the National Project Manager in Lebanon and will coordinate technically closely with our partner BEE MICE Company in Turkey ( communication company).. The Marketing and Communication freelancer will work remotely and /or physically from SKL I office Halba when necessary.

The Marketing and communication responsibilities are as per the below:

• Promote SKL I “Resilience in Local Governance “(RESLOG) Project during events.
• Manage  the design of promotional material and distribute them  in online and offline channels
• Create communication content in both Arabic and English.
• Advertise SKL I interventions/services on various media within the global guidelines of RESLOG and in collaboration with BEE company in Turkey.  

Profile and qualifications

The Marketing and Communication freelancer should be a Lebanese national with the following personal characteristics:

• The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong IT skills
• Good knowledge of marketing techniques

• Good creative skills

 The Marketing and communication freelancer should meet the following formal requirements:

• Relevant academic education, minimum Bachelor´s degree, or practical experience proved equivalent, such as marketing, media studies or communications would be advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Marketing and communication.
• Knowledge about community development (working with Municipalities, engaging with local partner…) and team leadership in and international development and/or local/regional government context.
• Experience from working with local governance and institutional systems development is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written command of English and in Arabic, French is an asset.

Additional aspects considered a strong merit for the position includes the experience of working with:

• International development cooperation – for example, through consultancy work, foreign missions, international organization or comparable institutions/organizations
• Experience working in Akkar to understand the context.
• The assignment is expected to start end of September 2019.

Contracting

The Marketing and Communication freelancer will be engaged as part time a freelancer through a framework contract. The contract will initially be valid until December 2019 and renewable based on performance to 31 December 2020..
