Psychologist - Beirut

About the project:

Since 2013, KAFA has partnered with UNICEF in a project titled “Protecting children, adolescents and women from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing the protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from GBV (early marriage, sexual abuse...), through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness on how to protect themselves from GBV. The project is ongoing for the sixth consecutive year.

In 2019, KAFA will continue its partnership with UNICEF in the same project through operating an Adolescent Friendly Space (AFS) in Chtaura, safe spaces in Beirut and Mount Lebanon areas (Social Development Centres and Informal Settlements) and the Support Center (SC) in Bekaa and Badaro,  developing national tools to prevent child protection risks aand Gender Based Violence as well as capacity development of other GBV and non GBV organizations. 

The safe spaces in Beirut and Mount Lebanon areas are provided with a package of GBV and CP risks prevention services including structured and focused psychosocial support activities, emotional support groups and peer to peer trainings.

Key Responsibilities:

The Psychologist’s responsibility is to conduct Structured and Focused Psycho Social Support sessions with groups of children aged between 6 and 17 years old in Beirut and Mount Lebanon safe spaces. The psychologist will be working closely with the Child Protection Program Coordinator as well as with the Field Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in trainings on the Focused Psycho Social Support (FPSS) Curriculum and the Structured Psycho Social Support (SPSS) curriculums;
• Maintain and update database related to conducted activities in each location;
• Stick with the annual plan set with field coordinator;
• Provide FPSS and SPSS activities to children, adolescents and caregivers based on specialized developed tools including the Citadel of Protection toolkit, SRHR toolkit, life skills, FPSS Curriculum, etc.;
• Provide schedule of activities on weekly/ monthly basis;
• Coordinate with SDC director and service providers in Mazraa and Borj El Barajneh SDCs, Borj El Barajneh and Chatilla camp;
• Raise logistics and technical challenges;
• Fill reports upon completion of each cycle of activities and upon request according to the UNICEF reporting system;
• Identify gaps regarding practices, knowledge and attitude of community members and provide necessary support; 
• Refer cases received while conducting activities or from committee members and follow up on their referral;
• Maintain good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders;
• Coordinate with Field Assistant and M&E consultant and provide her with needed information and database and documents related to monitoring activities;
• Maintain a database on referred cases and their follow up;
• Meet external requests in terms of events and awareness sessions sent to KAFA by schools, universities and other organizations;
• Attend internal and external coordination meetings when required.

• Proven experience in providing sessions on GBV and Child Protection risks;
• Knowledge of GBV and Child Protection concepts;
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work;

• Strong organizational and planning skills;
• Team work skills.
