Environmental Educator

The Environmental Educator will be responsible for a one week educational workshop to sensibilize the 40 youth volunteers on themes such as current local and global environmental issues, the impact of plastic pollution, the possible short and long term consequences of said pollution and the existing solutions. The goal is to encourage sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Act as part of the staff team that will provide a quality educational program to the volunteers for a total of 5 days
• Actively contribute to the staff team by communicating ideas and concerns openly, by making solution-oriented suggestions and by being an appropriate role model.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of a one week educational workshop regarding environmental issues and eco-friendly practices.
• Be responsible and fulfill your commitments to scheduled shifts.
• Ensure that all the resource materials and equipment are kept orderly, safe, and well-maintained.
• Treat every participant fairly regardless of circumstances and abilities
• Creating an encouraging and fun environment.
• Accentuate positive attributes of the students.
• Maintain good public relations with other team members and always keep the best interests of Blue Mission.
• Be consistently on time and maintain a professional attitude.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in environmental sciences, geology, or related fields
• Previous experience in teaching.
• Previous experience with NGOs is a plus.

Required Skills:

• Adherence to Blue Mission’s values, policies and protocol and capacity to enforce procedures.
• Ability to conduct and coordinate training/teaching as well as concluding assessments.
