1-General Context:
The SwitchMed Program (www.switchmed.eu ) is a regional initiative financed by the European Union that aims to facilitate the shift towards more sustainable consumption and production methods in the Southern Mediterranean Region. SwitchMed is implemented by the joint efforts of the SCP/RAC (Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production), UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), the UNEP-MAP (United Nations Environment Programme – Mediterranean Action Plan) and the UNEP-DTIE (Division of Technology, Industry and Economics). In Lebanon the National Focal Point for the coordination of the activities to support green entrepreneurship is the Head of Urban Environmental Service within the Ministry for the Environment.
As part of the implementation of the "Green Entrepreneur Training Program"in Lebanon, set up by the SCP/RAC and Business Incubation Association in Tripoli (BIAT), Local Partner (LP) of the SwitchMed Program, a call for candidate applications for the selection of 16 Local Trainers (LT) is taking place. These local trainers will take part in a “Train the Trainer Program in Green Entrepreneurship", which is scheduled to take place in the month of September 2015. The training will be offered by the SwitchMed Program and will be led by international experts appointed by the SCP/RAC.
2- Training the Trainer Content:
The objective of training the Local Trainers (LT) is to train those experts who are capable of running 5-day training workshops targeted at groups of potential Green Entrepreneurs (GE). The LT will learn how to organise workshops that are dedicated to the practical development of the green entrepreneurial ideas proposed by the GE taking part in the training. The trainers will acquire the skills required to transfer their knowledge and the tools needed by GE to transform their innovative idea into a green business model by validating the viability of their concepts. The LT will also be trained to enable them to convey the knowledge that will be needed by the GE to develop a green business plan, which will steer the creation of green enterprise projects. The LT will have access to educational materials developed by SCP/RAC as part of the SwitchMed Program and will be trained in their use.
In a second phase, a group of 8 LT (out of the 16) will be selected and asked to train groups of GE, identified by BIAT, during the last quarter of 2015. The selected LT will be remunerated for this service.
