Website On “Research On Migrant Domestic Workers In Lebanon”

The Beirut Office of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung is looking for a company/NGO that will help the office staff to develop, design and implement a website on migrant domestic work in Lebanon

This website will serve as a compilation of research on the topic of migrant domestic workers. It will include a bibliography of already existing research, the conduction of own research as well as the compilations of material (interviews, pictures, primary sources on the topic etc.)

The aim of the website is to provide an overview of the topic of migrant domestic work in Lebanon, within its different perspectives and dimensions. The website will also serve as a platform where different in-depth research can be found looking at the topic from different angles. The website is to have a clearer understanding of the different aspects of migrant domestic work in Lebanon and gives also a comparative and transnational perspective.

The website will include five main thematic axes. Each axis includes different research and studies: Axis one will deal with the replacement agencies and its different aspects. Axis two will deal with topics related to law and political power in regard to migrant domestic work in Lebanon. Axis three deals with the employers of the maids. Axis four consists of material from and on the migrant domestic workers and their situation. Axis five deals with architectural aspects of houses as well as of a city as Beirut that hosts a big numbers of migrant domestic workers.

The website will be bi-lingual: Arabic and English

Time frame:One year

Starting Date:01.08.2017

Main tasks and responsibilities:

- Develop the structure and different thematic axes of the website (together with RLS team)

- Develop leading questions for the different thematic axes of the website (together with RLS team)

- Develop the visual design of the website (together with RLS team)

- Coordinate with researchers for the content of the website

- Coordinate with web designers/graphic designer for the visual and technical implementation of the website

- Prepare the already existing material (video editing, transcription, translation etc.)

- Follow up in all different stages of the website’s development and implementation

Requirements of the company/NGO:

- Registered company or NGO

- Good analytical and factual understanding of the topic of migrant domestic work in Lebanon

- Good knowledge of technical implementation of websites

- Good knowledge of graphic design

- Experience in project coordination and management

- Working experience with research institutions or NGOs in the region

- Sharing the understandings and values of RLS

- Ability to work in a team, conduct tasks independently and professionally
