Sharq.Org is looking to hire an associate to engage in a research initiative that will engage cultural actors in Lebanon and result in the development of a policy paper aimed at the Lebanese government and international donors that support the arts and culture sector in Lebanon.

The research associate, guided by the principle researcher, will support the project by:

• Encouraging cultural actors in Lebanon to complete an online survey
• Participate in the selection of up to 10 female cultural actors who will be invited to participate in an expert workshop
• Participate in and take notes during a two-hour expert workshop (to be held online)
• Summarise, in writing: (a) key concepts considered during the workshop; (b) key functions, challenges, opportunities, donors, government policies, historical events that influence the arts & culture sector in Lebanon in general and minority groups in particular (based on literature review)
• Support the wide dissemination of the policy paper in Lebanon
• Promote and participate in a dissemination event to be held in Beirut (COVID restrictions permitting) or online

Eligibility

• Bi-lingual – able to speak and write in both Arabic and English
• At least five years active experience in the arts & cultures sector in Lebanon
• Experience with research and writing, be it for media or academia

Anticipated  engagement hours:                30-40
