Multimedia Producer

Key responsibilities

As multimedia producer, you will work with the SMEX team to design, create, and edit digital and multimedia assets (images, video, and audio) in Arabic and English for a variety of channels and SMEX.org, including:

Managing content development projects from concept to completion

Liaising with program managers and SMEX directors to conceptualize digital content

Working with artists, designers, and (ideally) web developers on a freelance basis

Developing, maintaining, and updating our multimedia design workflow

Ensuring proper archiving of audiovisual assets on SMEX multimedia database

Managing video/photo/audio equipment and design software

Reporting on multimedia analytics to the monitoring and evaluation officer

Publishing and promoting multimedia content on SMEX website and social media channels

Required qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years’ experience producing multimedia

Demonstrated mastery of key aspects of video and audio production for the Web

Exceptional digital storytelling and communication and presentation skills

Familiarity with social media and digital publishing platforms

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, InDesign, and Premier). Experiencing working with animation and/or illustration preferred

Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Knowledge of other web programming languages preferred.

A strong command of Arabic and English, written and spoken, and in-depth experience with the MENA region

A passion for digital rights and open culture or the willingness to learn

Familiarity with Creative Commons, copyright law, and stock image and video banks

Attention to detail

Compensation

Commensurate with experience and Lebanese civil society scales

Location

We will prioritize candidates who can work from the SMEX office in Beirut, but will consider candidates based elsewhere, as long as they can demonstrate reliable internet access and the ability to manage their time effectively.

The Recruitment Process

The recruitment process consists of three main steps:

In 150 words or less, tell us about your multimedia experience. Use examples to show us your strengths as a storyteller? What are your favorite media to work in, and why?

What do you think is the digital rights story that most needs to be told now? Use visual language or better yet, visuals.

Name a recent campaign that you think used digital content or multimedia particularly well. Give us some context and explain why you think it was successful in 50-100 words.

Finally, in 50-100 words, share a recent production experience that involved working on a team. What did you learn?

Qualified applicants will be contacted for a follow-up VoIP interview and asked to send a CV.

Finally, the top three to five candidates will be asked to complete a time-limited exercise around a topic of SMEX’s choosing.
