1. Background and Summary
The idea of the coalition started taking shape after several organizations, activists and women human rights defenders (WHRDs) met in Cairo during June 17 - 20, 2013, based on an invitation by Nazra for Feminist Studies. The meeting included 43 WHRDs from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) - due to the fact that the meeting was conducted in Egypt, several Egyptian WHRDs attended, to initiate a series of discussions related to the establishment of  a regional coalition for WHRDs in the region, and it was agreed that there is a necessity in building and launching the concerned coalition, due to the problems and issues that male dominant and patriarchal societies pose, in which WHRDs are active. The meeting resulted in the formation of a Steering Committee that was formed from WHRDs who volunteered from different countries, and they took the responsibility to work on formulating the suggestions and ideas that were raised in June 2013. the first general assembly for the coalition was conducted in February 2015 with the presence of 14 WHRDs from different countries in the region, where the internal regulations were confirmed, a strategic plan was drafted and the first elections for the coalition's Executive Committee were conducted, in addition to appointing consultants for the different sub-regions and handing the coordination of the coalition to Sawtalniswa collective.
2. Coalition Objectives:
The General Assembly confirmed and certified a  general objective for the coalition, which is the building of sub-regional coalitions that are coherent, effective and work as the basis or a group of local groups, and provides support for WHRDs to raise the issues they work on in a safe and effective environment via strengthening protection and enabling mechanisms for WHRDs, disseminating the concept of WHRDs and raising awareness about the role they play, in addition to disseminating the culture of respect and support for WHRDs.
In the second year of the coalition, the Secretariat in Lebanon is looking a project officer to suppor the management and  to ensure smooth coordination of the Coalition’s coordination
3.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In coordination with the Regional coordination support the project international and regional partner’s relations.
Contributes to product accurate and timely reporting to donors,
Assists the coalition’s board and RC in membership management, members meetings and representing coalition’s best interest in meetings national and regionally when needed.
Supports briefings and trainings for coalition’s members on work plan and advocacy work.
Liaises with relevant focal points of Coalition’s members in sub regions: 
Guides and supervises outreach assistant for the local activities.
Provides regular updates and reports on progress in areas or responsibility
Is always himself/herself informed about project activities and the context in which the project operates.
Participate to the drafting of monthly work plans and budgets.
Follow up on Coalition's activities and work plans.
Manage and submit all administrative, narrative and financial reports and documents in relations to activities implemented.
Leads some of the discussions with stakeholders.

4. Applicant must have and is able to demonstrate:

Excellent organizational and planning skills;
Excellent time management skills.
Very strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
Leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to multi tasks and work effectively under pressure
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in project administration and support with at least two years involving management responsibilities, preferably with  international organizations working regionally in the field of development and Human Rights.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with a wide range of people in UNHCR, OHCR, Arab League,EU missions, EU headquarters and with people of diplomatic responsibilities.
Knowledge of WHRD and HRD resolution, and international advocacy mechanisms and relevant Human rights instruments.
Able to handle confidential and sensitive issues.
Excellent understanding of the political situation in the MENA region.
