Civic Education Expert

Background:
Min ila is a civil, independent and non-governmental organization founded in Lebanon on September 2013. Min ila envisions a society with active, empowered and alerted citizens capable of creating a social change. Its mission is to empower citizens – especially the youth and the marginalized – through fostering civic education, promoting a culture of social responsibility and nurturing an engagement to the nation.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
This position requires working with team members in a regular office environment with occasional field visits to conduct interviews.
Job Summary:
Min ila seeks a Civic Education Expert to provide technical expertise and policy, research, and management support to the design of a civic education program in Lebanon. The Civic Education Expert will coordinate with national and local level stakeholders and partners to assess current civic education curricula and practice and develop updated materials for students, as well as training and programming for teachers, administrators, parents, and youth.
Job Responsibility: 

Assist in setting meetings with resource persons, partners and government authorities such as ministries and municipalities among others.
Analyze current civic education practices both at Primary and Secondary levels.
Gather all reviews that have been done on the civic education curriculum and the textbooks.
Conduct research on specific civic education topics to gather evidence based information; best practices, innovative approaches and lessons learned both at the local and international levels.
Develop of educational materials.
Develop Training-of-Trainers curricula and deliver training for teachers, students, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders.
Monitor and support program implementation.

Academic and Technical Competencies:

Candidates need a minimum five years progressive technical experience in the following areas: Civic education, citizenship education, global education, and/or social studies education.
Experience in conducting trainings for students, parents and teachers.
Experience in curriculum development (formal and non-formal education).
Fluency in English and Arabic required.

Personal Competencies:

Proven cross-cultural communication skills.
Creative and innovative mindset.
Proven ability to negotiate successfully with multiple stakeholders, including national and local government and diverse ethnic/religious groups.

Effective date: Immediately.
Duration: 4 months (full-time).
