           Senior Coaches Position Description
Project Description:
Developing Rehabilitation Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement (D-RASATI) will improve educational outcomes inLebanonby improving teacher and student performance, increasing community and parental involvement, and improving the school learning environment.  D-RASATI is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Overview:
AMIDEAST is responsible for managing the School Improvement Program and Community Engagement (SIP/CE) sub-component under the School Leadership Development with Parents and Community Involvement component of the D-RASATI project. The subcomponent will increase local stakeholder engagement in public schools through school improvement programming and national awareness campaign activities.  The sub-component will support 400 schools, starting with a pilot of 20, to conduct school reviews, as well as design and implement School Improvement Plans (SIP), to help them become model schools in conducting a school review, developing a SIP, and implementing the SIP with support from the local community.
Senior Coaches are required to assist the schools with their School Improvement Program by training, coaching and mentoring school leaders throughout the process. During the pilot phase, Senior Coaches will be working closely with their designated pilot schools; during the roll-out phase they will play a dual role as both a coach and coordinator for a team of other coaches for the specific area they are assigned to.
Specific Job Description:  
AMIDEAST is seeking 6 senior coaches on a part-time, consulting basis who will to be able to perform the following:

Participate in the training of school council members
Train, mentor and coach members of 3-4 school councils throughout the pilot phase for school review, developing a SIP, and implementing the SIP through conducting training, making bi-weekly school visits, and maintaining other regular communications
Liaise with the SIP/CE expert for technical issues involving the pilot, the trainings and materials, and other key issues related to the school councils throughout project implementation
Submit weekly reports about project activities, school councils’ progress, and any key developments related to school councils or project deliverables to the D-RASATI SIP/CE Manager and SIP/CE Expert; provide other reports as requested.
Serve as a regional coordinator to train and subsequently support and mentor a group of approximately 7 coaches (out of a total group of 38 coaches) during the roll-out phase of SIP programming to an additional 380 schools.

Desired Qualifications:
 

At least a BA degree in Education, Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology or other relevant field with at least 15 years of relevant experience;  an MA in Educational Administration and Leadership, or Public Administration, an MBA in Management or a PhD in Education, Sociology, or Psychology with at least 5 years of relevant field experience
Experience in training and/or facilitation/coaching
Knowledge of Lebanese public schools and/or understanding of the public educational system;
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, internet research, etc. ), ability to type in Arabic is a plus
Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills
Lebanese citizenship
Ability and willingness to commit for the 3-year duration of the project strongly preferred;
Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred
Available to begin consulting work immediately
