Community Engagement Director

Project Description:
Developing Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement (D-RASATI) will improve educational outcomes in Lebanon by improving teacher and student performance, increasing community and parental involvement, and improving the school learning environment.  D-RASATI is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Providing the capacity building and tools necessary to support school improvement planning is essential to ensure the maintenance and sustainability of any school improvements. D-RASATI, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), will work with key stakeholders at the school community level, including parent associations, extracurricular activities committees, school club leadership, school principals, local NGOs, and other local stakeholders to support improvements in public schools.  These efforts aim to promote engagement by actors both inside and outside the school in ongoing school improvement efforts and enhance support for Lebanese public schools.
Position Description:
The Community Engagement Director will lead the Community Engagement component, working closely with other project partners and MEHE. The Community Engagement Director will provide the technical direction and manage the planning and implementation of component activities, including supervision of component staff and/or consultants, reporting and other communications of AMIDEAST and its partners working on the component, and working closely with the M&E Director to track the component’s ability to meet its objectives..
The Community Engagement Director will be responsible for providing the technical and managerial leadership of D-RASATI community engagement activities. As a member of the D-RASATI senior team, the Community Engagement Director will work closely with the other senior team members to ensure that the community activities are an integral piece of D-RASATI team’s holistic approach to designing and implementing project activities. S/he will have primary responsibility for overseeing the design, planning and implementation of all activities related to the component  The Community Engagement Director will conduct all activities under the supervision of and reports to the D-RASATI Chief of Party and the AMIDEAST Country Director.
Desired Qualifications:

Significant experience in the field of education, with particular emphasis on school improvement planning, school leadership, engaging school communities, capacity building of parent councils
Experience in designing, leading, and assessing school community engagement and school improvement planning initiatives
Knowledge of Lebanese public school system
Experience working with key public school stakeholder including schools principals, teachers,  parent groups, school support networks,
Excellent managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills
Masters degree, preferably in Education or related social studies, with at least 10 years of experience in education and development, with appropriate project management experience; PhD, preferable
Lebanese citizen
Fluency in Arabic and English required; fluency in French preferred
