Call For Application: Media Training For Activists - طلب المشاركة: التدريب الإعلامي للناشطين/ات الحقوقيين/ات

The Gender and Body rights Media Center (GAB Media Center) opens the call for applications to its “Media training for activists”. The center, being a project implemented by The Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFE) will conduct a series of training sessions aiming at increasing the capacity of interaction and awareness of human rights activists regarding the local media.

Participants will be trained on leadership skills, storytelling, public speaking, public opinion shaping and security and protection.

The program requires that applicants have the following criteria:

- Applicants should be residing in Lebanon. Activists who live outside Beirut are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Applicants should have been involved (work, volunteer, internship) in a human rights organization advocating for sexual/gender/bodily rights, LGBT rights or women rights.

- Applicants should be fluent in Arabic (spoken and written).

- Applicants should be willing to be visible and interact openly with the local media.

- Applicants should be available to attend 3 days of training from April 21 to April 23, 2017.

About GAB Media center

Gender and Body Rights Media Center (GAB Media Center) is a project implemented by The Arab Foundation of Freedoms and Equality (AFE) that brings together media experts and advocates for gender and body rights to participate in media related activities in Lebanon and the MENA region.

GAB Media Center’s mission is to build the capacities of human rights activists from one side and media experts from the other to collaborate on making the voice of communities discriminated for gender based reasons heard. GAB also aims at creating a story bank accessible to journalists and media actors and monitoring the Lebanese media to raise awareness about harmful and discriminative content.

GAB Media Center’s vision is to create a strong alliance between the Lebanese media with all its components and gender and body rights advocates and organizations to give a fair voice to discriminated communities who can be victims of different types of gender based violence.

يفتح المركز الإعلامي للجندر والحقوق الجسدية (Gender and Body rights Media Center) باب التقديم للمشاركة في "التدريب الإعلامي للناشطين/ات الحقوقيين/ات". ينظم المركز الذي هو مشروع منفّذ من قبل المؤسسة العربية للحريات والمساواة سلسلة من الجلسات التدريبية التي تهدف الى تطوير الوعي ومهارات التواصل عند الناشطين/ات الحقوقيين/ات مع الإعلام المحلي.

سيستفيد المشتركون/ات من جلسات تدريبية حول المهارات القيادية، كتابة/اخبار القصص، تقنيات الخطابة، تشكيل الرأي العام والأمن والحماية.

شروط التقديم للمشاركة في البرنامج:

- أن يكون/تكون مقدم/ة طلب المشاركة مقيم/ة في لبنان. يشجّع البرنامج الناشطين/ات الذين/اللواتي يقيمون/ن خارج بيروت على التقديم.

- أن يكون/تكون مقدم/ة طلب المشاركة لديه/ها خبرة بالعمل مع منظمات حقوق الإنسان (عمل، تطوّع أو تدريب) وخبرة بالمشاركة في نشاطات متعلّقة بالحقوق الجنسية/الجندرية والجنسانية/الجسدية، حقوق مجتمع الميمLGBT أو حقوق المرأة.

- أن يكون/تكون مقدم/ة طلب المشاركة يتحدّث/تتحدث اللغة العربية بطلاقة.

- أن يكون/تكون مقدم/ة طلب المشاركة لديه/ها الرغبة والنية في الظهور العلني والتفاعل مع وسائل الإعلام المحلية.

- أن يكون/تكون مقدم/ة طلب المشاركة لديه/ها الوقت للمشاركة في تدريب لمدة 3 أيام من 21 الى 23 نيسان2017.

عن المركز الإعلامي للجندر والحقوق الجسدية – مركز GAB

المركز الإعلامي للجندر والحقوق الجسدية (GAB) هو مشروع تنفّذه المؤسسة العربية للحريات والمساواة ويجمع خبراء/خبيرات إعلاميين/ات وناشطين/ات حقوقيين/ات في مجال النوع الاجتماعي والحقوق الجسدية من خلال نشاطات إعلامية في لبنان ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا.

يعمل مركز GAB على بناء قدرات الناشطين/ات الحقوقيين/ات من جهة والخبراء/الخبيرات الإعلاميين/ات من جهة أخرى بهدف التعاون على إيصال صوت المجتمعات المهمّشة لأسباب جندرية. يعمل المركز أيضاً على بناء منصة لقصص واقعية يمكن للصحافيين/ات الاستفادة منها كما يهدف الى رصد وسائل الاعلام اللبنانية بهدف رفع مستوى الوعي حول المضمون الإعلامي الذي قد يسيء الى مجتمعات معينة.

يطمح مركز GAB الى خلق تحالف قوي بين الإعلام اللبناني بجميع مكوناته والناشطين/ات الحقوقيين/ات بموضوع الجندر والحقوق الجسدية بهدف إيصال صوت المجتمعات والفئات المهمّشة التي تعاني من التمييز والعنف المرتكز على أساس النوع الاجتماعي
