Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator will be an experienced Arabic and English speaker based in Beirut with strong, demonstrable, research, budgeting and interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will take up a trusted position in the company with the opportunity to help shape the future direction of Aktis in Lebanon as it continues to grow.
The Project Coordinator will support Aktis Team Leaders and Project Managers with the day-to-day management of the team’s current security sector and research projects in Lebanon, to ensure effective delivery. They will support the expansion of Aktis’ portfolio by developing an understanding of key stakeholders, networks and current issues.
The individual will:

Able to manage a budget and contract to deliver client outcomes;

Be to write high quality reports;
Be a problem solver, interested in supporting on technical project delivery;
Will have an interest in security sector reform, ideally with previous experience in the sectors;
Possess strong Excel and Word capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Project Support:

Support the implementation of security sector reform projects;
Build and maintain relationships with a broad range of project stakeholders;
Lead on project financial management (budgeting and financial reports), manage project financials, procurement, expenditure and risk management;
Develop and update the project risk register and stakeholder mapping;
Independently draft sections of reports;
Support the Project Teams in coordinating the inputs of the project delivery teams;
Prepare ToRs and contracts for associates as required;
Review timesheets and expenses against Aktis policy and project budget;
Conduct quality checks of data for research conducted on security sector projects.

Business Development

Support the Project Manager or Team Leader with research into key thematic areas;  
Participate in meetings with local stakeholders / partners / clients and represent Aktis Strategy at events and meetings as required.

Professional Experience
The successful candidate will have:

A Bachelors-level qualification in a science or humanities subject. A Masters-level qualification is preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years’ post-qualification experience working on implementation of international donor funded development projects, ideally in the field security sector reform.
Previous experience of working in the Levant developing a network of contacts and identifying new business opportunities.
Experience writing and communicating in English and Arabic through reports.
Strong knowledge of Excel and Word.
Have the right to work in Lebanon.
Previous M&E experience is appreciated.
