Communication Officer

Role:
Working under the direction of the Team Leader, the Communication Officer will support the Media outreach to the relevant project audience and provide the coverage required to launch and promote the forensics project. He/she will be responsible for the following functions:

Write, review and edit articles to be placed in academic and media journals, i.e. the Judicial magazine, the ISF magazine, etc.;
Organise conferences, seminars, roundtables and cocktails, while also suggesting and organising other forums for dialogue and debate as necessary. This might include forums which enable academic debate to take place related to the field of forensics;
Produce leaflets , brochures and invitations;
Collect media, photos and press releases in relation to the Forensic subject in Lebanon;
Contact local and international media to increase public outreach of the project;
Attend appropriate security and justice seminars and conferences that take place in Lebanon in order to increase awareness of this programme;
Prepare the monthly newsletter;
If appropriate to develop online content which could be used to enhance the aim of the programme, this might be through website development, programme Facebook page, Twitter and other channels;
Take the minutes of key meetings, where needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

University degree in the field of Public Relations, Communications or any other related field;
Five years of relevant work experience in communications, editing, reporting, writing, event planning and public relations;
At least three years working experience within International organizations or Governmental institutions;
Strong interpersonal, liaison, communication and event planning skills;
Excellent command of English, Arabic and French;
Good understanding of the Lebanese legal, political and security context is a plus;
Contacts in the Lebanese and International media circles.

Reporting lines:
The Communications Officer will work alongside the project team members: Project Director, Team leader, project manager and project officer. The Communications Officer reports to the team leader on all tasks.
