Job Description:
The MEAL Assistant will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning processes for two projects targeting 6,800 and 8,500 beneficiaries across 23 centers in Akkar and North Lebanon. This role involves assisting in monitoring project activities, collecting and organizing large datasets, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the analysis and reporting of project performance. The MEAL Assistant will work closely with the MEAL Officer to ensure timely and reliable data collection, accountability to beneficiaries, and adherence to donor requirements.

Justification:
Given the scope of the projects and the large beneficiary numbers, the volume of data generated from 23 centers necessitates additional support for effective monitoring and evaluation. The MEAL Assistant will be instrumental in ensuring accurate activity tracking, data management, and accountability, which are essential for project success and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Evaluation Support:

Assist in monitoring project activities across 23 centers, ensuring alignment with project plans and targets.

Conduct regular field visits to verify activity implementation and gather data from beneficiaries and service providers.

Support the MEAL Officer in tracking project indicators and evaluating progress toward objectives.

Data Collection and Management:

Collect and organize large datasets from multiple centers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Maintain up-to-date and well-organized records of project activities, beneficiaries, and feedback.

Use data collection tools and software to streamline data entry and analysis processes.

Accountability and Learning:

Support the establishment and maintenance of accountability mechanisms, including feedback and complaint channels for beneficiaries.

Assist in analyzing beneficiary feedback to improve service delivery and enhance project impact.

Participate in learning sessions and contribute to the documentation of lessons learned.

Reporting and Documentation:

Prepare summary reports and updates on project activities and performance indicators for the MEAL Officer.

Contribute to donor reporting by providing accurate and timely data.

Document success stories, challenges, and best practices from the field.

Collaboration and Coordination:

Work closely with field teams, project staff, and the MEAL Officer to ensure effective data collection and reporting.

Provide technical support and training to staff on data collection and monitoring tools as needed.

Ensure adherence to donor requirements and organizational policies in all MEAL activities.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience:

At least 1–2 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, data collection, or a related role, preferably in the humanitarian sector.

Familiarity with donor-funded projects and reporting requirements.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in data collection tools and software (e.g., Kobo Toolbox or similar).

Strong skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data management and analysis.

Knowledge of data visualization tools is an advantage.

Language:

Proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
