Job Description
The community engagement coordinator (CEC) oversees and manages the activities of community mobilizers (CM) for both the ongoing and proposed projects. Coordinates outreach activities, ensuring they are effective and aligned with project objectives. Facilitates appropriate referrals and linkages for beneficiaries to services, including healthcare, rehabilitation, and protection. Monitors and follows up with cases requiring hospitalizations or other critical interventions. Provides operational and logistical support to the project implementation team, ensuring efficient service delivery and responsiveness to community needs.
Key Responsibilities:
CM Management:
Oversee and manage the activities of CM for both ongoing and proposed projects, ensuring their work aligns with project objectives, best practices, and protection principles.
Provide ongoing support, training, and mentorship to CM, including guidance on identifying and addressing protection concerns.
Monitor community mobilizer performance and provide constructive feedback, ensuring compliance with protection protocols and ethical guidelines.
Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of CM activities, including any identified protection risks or concerns.
Community Outreach & Engagement:
Coordinate and implement effective outreach strategies to identify and engage with target populations, with a focus on reaching vulnerable individuals & caregivers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and other key stakeholders, ensuring their active participation in community-based protection activities.
Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness-raising events on issues related to protection, such as child protection, gender-based violence, and PWDs rights.
Conduct community assessments to identify protection needs and priorities, including risk factors and vulnerabilities within the community.
Referral and Case Management:
Facilitate appropriate referrals of beneficiaries to relevant protection services, including child protection services, legal aid, and support services for survivors of violence.
Play a key role in the case management process for identified protection cases, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to protection concerns.
Monitor and follow up on cases requiring urgent attention, such as cases of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Ensure smooth transitions of care between different service providers within the protection sector.
Project Support:
Support the Protection Team Leader in the development and implementation of protection-related activities within the project.
Contribute to the development and implementation of project work plans and budgets, with a specific focus on protection activities.
Monitor project progress and identify any potential protection risks or challenges.
Contribute to the preparation of project reports and other relevant documentation, including data on protection concerns and responses.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Social Assistant, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in community development, community mobilization, or a related field, with a strong preference for experience in protection programming.
Experience: Experience in working with vulnerable populations, particularly people with disabilities (PwDs), and addressing protection concerns.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of child protection principles, gender-based violence, and other relevant protection issues. Knowledge of community-based approaches to protection and service delivery.
Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in addtion to TEAM & ZOOM.
Language Proficiency:
Fluency in Arabic (written and spoken).
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Transversal Skills:
Cultural Sensitivity and Awareness: Understanding and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds and needs of the target population.
Ethical Conduct: Adhering to ethical principles and maintaining confidentiality.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Identifying and resolving challenges effectively and efficiently, particularly in relation to protection concerns.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Working effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including the Protection Team Leader, CBR staff, and other stakeholders.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Adjusting to changing circumstances and priorities within the protection context.
Conflict Resolution: Resolving conflicts constructively and peacefully, particularly in situations involving sensitive protection issues.
Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocating for the rights and protection of vulnerable individuals within the community including PwDs, the elderly.
