Job Title: Community Activist (CA)

Job Purpose: We are looking for highly motivated and creative “Community Activists” who are willing to support change and development within different communities in their local context. If you are interested and open to develop yourself and learn new methods, you will contribute to the Future Together Now project within the program area of Community Mobilizing.
You will work in a team of other Community Activists and cooperate with local partners. Your tasks include working with and facilitating the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of community-led initiatives. The aim of the initiatives is to mitigate and reduce the stress and conflicts between different communities, with a focus on the areas specifications, culture and psychographics.

Major Activities
Strategic

Lobby/Advocate for a conflict transformation and community development - approach within your organization and respective communities
Building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and other local resources for community development and nonviolent conflict resolution within and between different communities (Lebanese and Non-Lebanese communities)
Develop and maintain quality standards together with all partners

Operational
As per the job purpose outlined above, the role will draw upon the following components:
Formation and Coordination of Local Mechanism

Planning, conducting and documenting a Needs- and/or conflict assessment in identified locations
Identify community needs and conflict issues to be worked on and develop action plans / budgets
Integrate different communities (Lebanese and Non-Lebanese) in a participatory way into the project process to initiate and utilize interventions based on the needs and conflicts
Facilitating regular meetings and fostering joint decision making with all actors involved
Outreach and regular communication with local communities and local key stakeholders in their area to build trust and visibility in the local communities
Coordinating the implementation of the action plans and community projects
Evaluating activities and using different trained mentoring and evaluation methods
Social-marketing and bringing issues on the public agenda/raise public awareness

Capacity Building

Attend a two year training - cycle (6 x 5-days trainings per year) provided by forumZFD in combination with mentoring support from forumZFD

Learning and Reflection

Regular debriefings and time for personal and collective reflection, evaluation, adaptation to changes within the project
Mentoring community initiative members

Documentation, Narrative and Financial Reporting

Document needs, conflicts, activities, interventions and success-stories
Provide periodical reports regarding the tasks achievements to the coordinator

Beneficiaries

Different local communities (Lebanese and Non-Lebanese communities) in the target areas

Demonstrates examples where skills from the trainings have been applied in the field

Up to date with all project documentation

Education & Experience
Proficient experience of working with communities, volunteerism or development work (Priority will be given to individuals who were recently engaged with We Love Tripoli, its partners or similar groups)
