Background

War Child Holland (WCH) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. WCH works to enable adults and empower children and young people affected by armed conflict to bring about positive and lasting changes in their lives. Our activities seek to maximize children and young people’s participation in both project activities and broader decision affecting their lives, in particular those who have previously been excludes from participating in such decision-making. As an organization, we are committed to promote, strengthen and support the meaningful participation of children and young people.

 

Shield programme in Lebanon works to uphold the safety and fundamental rights of vulnerable children through an integrated child protection framework that draws on education and psychosocial support activities. Activities are designed to reach some 9,000 children from both refugee and host communities.

The Action aims at the development of an ongoing integrated education in emergencies, psychosocial and protection programme that aims to ensure adolescents are enrolled in school by addressing the specific protection needs of at-risk adolescents. The program targets refugee and host community adolescents at-risk of child labour, child marriage, violence against children and child abuse and to reach caregivers and community actors to build a stronger protective environment for vulnerable adolescents. War Child takes the lead and the implementation occurs through local partners: LOST & AND.

 

 

 

Purpose of Assignment

War Child is looking for an experienced production house or filmmaker to film and edit two videos.

 

Details of the Assignment

The contractors are expected to:

Production of 2 videos (script writing, videography, editing, audio balancing, sub-titling, format exporting, archiving raw and edited work etc.) according to War Child standards. All videos produced must be of the highest quality to adequately represent the organization;

The contractors shall use their own HD quality video camera and professional editing software;

Edit the footage in line with the script agreed and approved by War Child’s focal person and produce a professional quality package;

Record and edit narration / voice over where needed in according with guidance from relevant War Child focal person;

Embed sub-titles in the video as per need;

Audio balance the final product and convert it in different formats

Clearly identify location, name and age of interviewees, quotes and any relevant details;

Include appropriate War Child branding and crediting of War Child ownership for the produced videos.

 

 

Reporting Requirements

The contractors will report to the Communication Department at War Child, who will regularly communicate with the contractors and provide feedback and guidance on their performance and all other necessary support so to achieve objectives of the assignment, as well as remain aware of any upcoming issues related to contractors’ performance and quality of work.

 

All activities and deliverables undertaken by the contractors shall be discussed and planned in consultation with War Child. The contractors are expected to deliver each component of the work plan electronically.

 

Qualifications and experience

The contractors are expected to possess the following qualifications:

At least five years of experience in videography/video editing, experience of editing;

Demonstrated experience of conception, production and editing of mini videos;

Experience covering social, humanitarian and development subjects will be an asset;

Experience with other UN agencies and INGOs will be an asset;

Knowledge on ethical standards in reporting on issues related to children will be an asset.

 

 

Deliverables

A. Human-Interest Story

Length: approximately 1 to 2 minutes

Focus: the film will revolve around the story of a child participant from the project.

Location: TBD

 

Payment Schedule

Payments will be based on 50% upon signature of contract, and 50% upon delivery of material.

 

War Child reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs are incomplete, or not delivered for failure to meet deadlines.

 

Description of official travel involved

War Child expects contractors to secure their own travel methods for both filming sessions.

 

Support provided by War Child

War Child will regularly communicate with the contractors and provide feedback and guidance and necessary support so to achieve objectives of the work, as well as remain aware of any upcoming issues related to the performance and quality of work. War Child will provide the contractors with:

Basic information on the project;

Branding and other War Child guidelines on videos;

Suggestions on the most suitable project sites, stories and relevant contacts.

 

Copyrights & utilization rights

The copyright of all video materials produced (raw and edited) taken during the assignment will belong to War Child in Lebanon. The videographers will obtain the relevant written consent for video usage from concerned people/authorities.
