AN-ITB-LB-2021-06 |“Implementation of Water Treatment System in Fnaydek” (Akkar)

Fnaydek is a growing village located in the Akkar region of Lebanon, home to 38,733 Lebanese citizens and 1,267 Syrian refugees.

The village relies on two primary water sources: the Houweh and the Kahef. The Houweh sources provide gravity-fed water ranging from 5 to 12 inches in volume but dry up for 6 months of the year. Conversely, the Kahef source consistently supplies 8 inches of water but requires pumping from the mid-Fnaydek area, the municipality used it during the dry season and when needed.

Water Storage and Distribution: A 1,000m³ water storage tank serves Fnaydek residents

throughout the year. The distribution network comprises a defragmented piping system with

varying diameters (2, 3, and 4 inches) and is controlled by a series of gauges to systematically

distribute water across the village

Tankamel Sawa are planning to implement a Chlorine Filtration system to support in providing drinking water to the village households.
