Child Safeguarding Incident Manager

 

Location Lebanon/Beirut

Full time, one-year contract with possibility of extension

 

Purpose of role:

 

To oversee management of Child Safeguarding (CS) incidents in two Member Associations (Egypt and Syria), ensuring that all allegations are appropriately investigated, that follow-up support for victims is provided and that necessary management actions taken in respect of perpetrators.

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review all allegations that are received through SOS International Whistleblowing Channels, based on the Organizational and International Child Safeguarding Standards.
  • In consultation with the IOR CS focal person, decide which level of organization will investigate each allegation.
  • In consultation with IOR CS focal person, prepare TOR for external investigations and support investigators accordingly.
  • Follow up the progress of all investigations.
  • Lead in some investigations, as part of an investigation team.
  • Provide practical and capacity building training to national CS investigators.
  • Support the national and location CS teams in developing individual support plans, for victims/survivors to ensure that their concerns are heard and their needs met.
  • Follow up on the progress of support plans for all victims/survivors.
  • Follow up with National Managers, to ensure that necessary actions are taken with respect of perpetrators, in accordance with national law.
  • Report regularly to the Regional CS team on the progress of all commisined investigations and fulfillment of planned response actions for victims/survivors and perpetrators.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Forensic Science or other related areas
  • At least 5 years work experience in the field of Safeguarding and or Child Protection.
  • Knowledge of International Child Safeguarding Standards.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection legislation and mechanisms in Middle East countries.
  • Training and experience in investigation of child abuse and neglect
  • Proven project and team management skills
  • Good coordination and organization skills, including ability to plan, organize and deliver results
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a large amount of information
  • Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Willingess to spend frequent travel times in Syria and Egypt
  • Fluent Arabic and English
