Gender and Education Expert: Curriculum Committee Member
The Consultant shall provide an updated CV, cover letter and expected daily rate to [email protected] and [email protected]. Evidence of rate history from at least one previous consultancy in the past three years is required. The final amount will be agreed by all parties before a contract is issued.
1. Project Synopsis
The project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the support of BALADI CAP program and it aims to promote national policies and action plans that can help eliminate discrimination on mainstream media outlets. To this end, the initiative will build on the efforts previously undertaken by the CSO Human Rights Network and advocate for mainstreaming gender equality and the protection of vulnerable groups within local TV stations in Lebanon.
2. Project Objective
The project’s overall objective is to reduce the actions of discrimination and stigmatization among vulnerable Lebanese populations. The project’s specific objective will focus on enhancing the commitment of national mainstream media institutions and university faculties toward responding to the elimination of discrimination and stigmatization. To this end, the initiative will build on the efforts previously undertaken by the CSO Human Rights Network (HRN) and advocate for mainstreaming gender equality and the protection of vulnerable groups through different channels including university faculties.
3. Scope of Work
The gender and education expert will be responsible for developing parts of the curriculum in their field of expertise, and analyse existing curricula to identify areas of improvement. In the final stage of the project, committee members will be asked to support in advocating for the adoption of the curriculum in universities around the country.
4. Expected Activities
- Write section of the curriculum, support the development and provide recommendations for improvement of the curriculum;
- Review the other sections prepared by other experts;
- Attend the curriculum meetings;
- Analyse existing curricula to identify areas of improvement and make suggestions to mainstream gender equality and equity into all its policies, structures, systems and operations;
- Make recommendations about how best to deliver the curricula to the proposed target group, including recommendations about the most effective training strategies, methodologies and tools;
- Support in the advocacy for the adoption of the curriculum with universities in Lebanon;
- Ensure that the development of the curriculum aligns with current Lebanese universities regulations and frameworks.
5. Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess the following experience and qualifications to be considered for this post:
Professional Experience
- At least five years’ experience in curriculum development/ teaching at Lebanese Universities
- Experience working on Gender Issues in the Arab World and developing gender-focused curriculum
- Outstanding communication skills, with excellent command of spoken and written English
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Educational Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Education and Public Policy (or a related field) from a recognised and reputable institution.
