About the project:
Under the project of “Improving Mental Health and Well-being of People Living in Lebanon” A consortium of three organizations, MdM, Skoun, Embrace, and the National Mental Health Program (NMHP), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for women, men, boys, girls, and gender non-compliant individuals in Lebanon to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing. The consortium aims to reach its objective by supporting community-based Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) and Substance Uses (SU) systems offering appropriate, quality, and gender-inclusive services to all people living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk while tackling gender barriers in service access and gender biases in service provision. The specific activities of the project target the different levels of the social-ecological model with activities designed and aimed at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, and community levels
Scope of Work:
The psychiatrist is expected to:
- Provide psychiatric care to patients with Substance Use and/ or Mental health Disorders in Tripoli Center, 1 day per week
- Collect information regarding the patient’s medical and psychiatric history, assess patient’s general physical condition and refer when needed for further medical evaluation
- Analyze and evaluate patient’s data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of disorder
- Build rapport with patients to ensure confidentiality, secure trust and openness
- Conduct clinical interviews to determine the nature and extent of patient’s mental health and/or substance use disorder and suggest an appropriate treatment plan accordingly
- Provide pharmacological treatment if needed, respect when prescribing, as much as possible, and the list of Psychotropic and Neurological medication for prescription available in Humanitarian Settings available at the National Mental Health Program / MOPH website (list of basic medication).
- Follow up on patients’ treatment evaluating the response to medication and the possible side effects and modify the treatment accordingly
- Discharge patient from the program when and if stabilized
- Facilitate and follow up the hospitalization of the patient, when needed.
- Participate in technical meetings and case discussion meetings with the multidisciplinary team of the center for ensuring the proper follow-up of the patient.
- Attend regular meetings, working sessions and training organized by project’s partners and the National Mental Health Program
- Be responsible to maintain clear and updated data collection and submit the monthly reports to the MHPSS supervisor and Skoun’s Clinical Coordinator
- Coordinate with the Nurse on urine tests results
- Review and evaluate treatment progress and outcomes with Therapists and Case Managers
- Provide psychiatric care to patients with Substance Use and/ or Mental health Disorders in Tripoli Center, 1 day per week
