Job Summary

The Speech Therapist is responsible for is responsible for diagnosing, evaluating, and treating individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. They develop personalized therapy plans to improve patients’ communication abilities, enhance speech clarity, and address any issues related to swallowing or feeding to help the individuals achieve optimal speech and language development and function.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Assessment and Diagnosis

  • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess speech, language, communication, and swallowing abilities.
  • Diagnose speech and language disorders such as articulation issues, language delays, stuttering, voice disorders, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Perform screening tests to identify potential speech and language issues in patients.

Therapy and Treatment

  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs, goals, and abilities.
  • Implement therapy techniques to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, expressive language, voice quality, and communication skills.
  • Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment strategies as needed.
  • Provide recommendations for home exercises or activities to enhance therapy outcomes.
  • Write individualized Speech and Language Therapy reports to include the outcome and results of the assessment and the targeted objectives.
  • Educate patients and their families about the role and the objective of speech therapy.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals.

Referrals and Coordination

  • Provide referrals for patients requiring additional services.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and caregivers to reinforce therapeutic techniques and encourage progress outside of sessions.
  • Coordinate regularly with the CM program coordinator to discuss beneficiaries' progress, treatment options, and interventions.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and confidential beneficiaries’ records, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with ethical standards.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly plans and send them to the CM program coordinator.

 

General Duties

  • Understands and adheres to the Shift Code of Conduct;
  • Understands the roles of the components of Shift;
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times;
  • Represents Shift in a professional manner at all times;
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers;
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the Organization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in SLP;
  • License of Practice;
  • At least 2 years of experience in providing Speech and Language Therapy sessions to children of various ages and with different types of difficulties/disabilities;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse populations;
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel);
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, French is a plus.

 

Inter-Relationships

  • Case Management Program Coordinator;
  • Project Coordinator;
  • Other relevant partners/stakeholders.

 

Conditions

  • Depending on the referrals and on the schedule, the speech therapist will cover 120 days all over the year for 80$ per working day;
  • Willingness to work in Tripoli and in Wadi Khaled (Akkar).
