About SHiFT

SHiFT is a social innovation hub leading the transformation of post-conflict and/or marginalised zones towards peaceful and prosperous communities. It brings people together and bridges differences through building capacities, raising awareness, creating opportunities, promoting success models and mentoring. 

#TogetherForBeirut, “معاً لبيروت”, is an initiative powered by SHiFT to support those affected by the Beirut Port Explosion. In the first stage of the initiative, teams of volunteers started working on the ground clearing rubble from homes and businesses that were destroyed in the explosion. In addition, a team of psychologists is giving psychological first aid for the people affected by the disaster, a team of engineers is conducting visits to the houses and stores located in the area and assessing their locations to provide help in the rehabilitation, and another team is conducting field visits to the stores and businesses located in the area and filling a business assessment with them for Future potential grants or help.

 

About the Position:

The NMSMEs Officer is responsible for the implementation of the Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) program in Beirut.  S/he will follow-up on the day-to day tasks related to the components, carrying out the activities, and ensure proper monitoring and follow-up is made on field level. S/he will ensure that activities in this component contribute to achieving key deliverables, including improved business development for NMSMEs. S/he will follow-up on outreach activities, coordination with partners, municipalities, stakeholders, trainers, coaches, and other local and international NGOs.

Communication officer and M&E coordinator.

 

Overall Project Implementation

  • Support the Business development program manager in planning and implementing all NMSMEs activities to meet the project deliverables based on the timeline and scope agreed with the donor.
  • outreach and conduct detailed need assessment for the NMSMEs.
  • Prepare, schedule, and organize Training and coaching sessions.
  • Work closely with the procurement team for the grants’ distribution.
  • Work closely and coordinate with the administrative and procurement team.
  • Build a strong and trust-based relationship with NMSMEs.
  • Build relationships with unions and local municipalities to introduce the project and facilitate access to information related to project activities and scope. Arrange for meetings with local entities and authorities, as requested.
  • Participate in team planning and coordination meetings and trainings.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts to document project outputs, outcomes, and impact to inform donor and other internal reporting.
  • Oversee filing and record keeping of project activities.
  • Contribute to the analysis of data collected to facilitate assessment results and lessons learnt.
  • Facilitate internal SHiFT procurement processes.
  • Prepare weekly reports to be submitted to the NMSMEs program Manager. Contribute to quarterly reports and other ad hoc reports to meet donor and internal requirements.

Coordination and Representation

  • Liaise with local NGOs and INGOs, project partners, key community leaders, NMSMEs, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure successful deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships and coordinate with relevant international and local agencies active in the livelihoods and economic development sector.
  • Represent SHiFT at local coordination meetings, where relevant.

 

 

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • BS in business, management, economics, or other relevant field.
  • One to three years of progressive experience and proven high level of competence in working in economic and market development, supporting nano, micro, small and medium enterprises;
  • Experience carrying out in-depth assessments of NMSMEs;
  • Familiarity with the Lebanese economy, market, Labor Market and Business Development
  • Very good communication, coordination and diplomacy.
  • Integrity, fairness and impartiality.
  • Ability to manage sensitive cases and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of the main Lebanese economic sector, Business environment and common practices in Lebanon, and of international guidelines.
  • Project cycle management experience, including work planning, reporting, and monitoring & evaluation
  • Ability to work closely with different stakeholders, including business, business development organizations, and financial institutions in Lebanon.
  • Problem solvers with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet objectives;
  • Great communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English essential.
