Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing overall leadership and guidance in regards to the peri-urban agriculture component;
- Contributing technical expertise in all aspects of the peri-urban agriculture component;
- Design and lead technical training sessions for potential stakeholders;
- Coordinate with other project staff, consultants, and partners at all levels and assist with the development of project work, reports and strategic plans;
- Coordinate and integrate activities with other organizations and the private sector that are currently operating in or have the potential to contribute to this space.
- Ensure that urban and peri-urban agriculture value chain components are developed and supported in ways which ensure long term sustainability after the project ends;
- Lead and technically supervise designated special projects and pilots
- Ensure the timely and quality completion of all designated deliverables.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Organizational
- Understand and support the mission.

- Work collaboratively in a team setting serving the needs of youth.
- Serve as a role model for youth and community.
- Maintain current and accurate statistical documentation of programs offered and participant outcomes.
- Accurately complete administrative tasks related to management of urban agriculture programming, including internal and external reporting.
- Maintain organized and clean indoor and outdoor working spaces.
- Manage daily program operations, funding requirements, data collection, evaluation and administrative duties.
- Participate in special events, trainings, meetings and other duties as assigned.
- Develop and implement urban agriculture curricula and program.
- Work both independently and with youth to lead urban agriculture tasks including plant propagation, site preparation/maintenance, planting/transplanting, weed management, integrated pest and disease management, irrigation, harvesting, washing and packing, distribution and food safety.
- Lead volunteers, groups, tours, workshops and demonstrations

Education / Experience / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture education (urban agriculture; urban planning; urban environment management), environmental science/studies, sustainability or related field required.
- Minimum of five years’ professional work experience, with a minimum of 2 years working directly with youth.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as instructor of urban agriculture or related field.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna, to include trees, shrubs, perennial plants.
- Experience participating in / leading FFA –FFT and other agriculture education programs is preferred.
- Previous work experience on dedicated urban and peri-urban agriculture preferred,
- Strong team leadership, managerial and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience on NGO projects preferred.
- Ability to establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Fluency in English required.
