Position Summary :

We are looking for a Field Reporting Officer to assist in the implementation and reporting of our 24 months project aiming for a more inclusive governance in Wadi Khaled. The project plans to achieve that by ensuring that local decision-making processes are inclusive and participatory, and that development processes are more sustainable, equitable, and accountable.

The project engages with local and national governance actors, youth, women and other marginalized groups within the community at large, to promote the principles of good governance and to guarantee a more participatory and representative governance in the target communities. 

The Field Reporting Officer will support the Project Manager in the day-to-day operations and implementation of the project’s activities, and will be expected to travel between Akkar and Wadi Khaled. The position will be based in Search’s office in Halba, with regular trips to Wadi Khaled and Search’s Beirut Office.

Search for Common Ground (Search) is a non-governmental organization working to transform the way the world deals with conflict. We have acquired over 35 years of experience in peacebuilding and are based in over 30 countries around the world. Search first worked in Lebanon in 1996, addressing multiple issues arising within Lebanon's diverse society. In each project we seek to engage all stakeholders to work together to address shared challenges and develop joint solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct participatory monitoring activities with Search beneficiaries to get information and feedback on the quality and relevance of the project; or as part of the outcomes monitoring and follow up activities.
  • Ensure accurate and word to word data collection and recording entry, cleaning, compiling and upload.
  • Follow through with FGD and interview protocol for data collection (organize and conduct interviews and focus group discussions);
  • Provide regular verbal and written feedback on field observations and monitoring findings to the project team and the M&E Manager;
  • Ensure monitoring schedule, data collection targets, and reporting deadlines are adhered to.
  • Support the project manager in the documentation of the project, by developing and maintaining project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions;
  • Support the project manager in reporting on project activities, ensuring timely grant reporting and compliance with contract and donor guidelines;
  • Support the project manager and field officers in Wadi Khaled in the implementation and monitoring of the project’s activities;
  • Support in collecting the project’s administrative supporting documents and ensure their accurate and timely reconciliation in close coordination with Search’s finance and logistic departments in based in the Beirut office; 

 As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Development, Political science or other relevant subject;
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience, and a minimum of 2 years in Akkar, preferred in Wadi Khaled;
  • Proficiency in writing in English and Arabic;
  • Experience in data collection and report writing in both languages;
  • Peacebuilding values and attitudes: a personal commitment to use nonviolence and dialogue as effective methods to prevent and resolve daily problems;
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Capacity to empathize with others;
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and social media platforms is preferred;
  • Creative problem solving, particularly in challenging situations.
