Trainer - Community Outreach Training

The Program

Search is currently implementing a project called “Diwan” that seeks to ensure that local governance decision-making processes are more inclusive in Wadi Khaled and that development is more sustainable, equitable, and accountable. To ensure a more participatory and representative governance in the target communities, the project engages with local governance actors, youth, women and other marginalized groups at large, to promote the principles of good governance. In order to achieve this goal, Diwan project is seeking to improve the collaboration between local leaders and their constituents in addressing local needs and to increase the participation and representation of marginalized groups in particular (e.g. youth and women) in local governance.

 

Goal and Objectives of the Consultancy

Search requires the services of an independent consultant to provide two training sessions on the same topic “Community Outreach”. The objective of the training is to provide participants with knowledge on traditional and modern outreach strategies and tools for engaging community members in working on inclusive and participatory governance in Wadi Khaled, and to build their capacities and improve their skills on how they can practically use the information acquired on the ground. Additionally, it aims at building their capacities on dealing with outreach barriers and challenges if faced. Following the training, the women and youth should be able to:

  • Define what is community outreach;
  • Learn about the purpose of community outreach;
  • Understand outreach methods and keys of success;
  • Understand the elements of effective outreach strategies;
  • Design an outreach strategy relevant to their communities;
  • Understand the fundamentals of conflict sensitivity;
  • Learn practical tools for applying conflict sensitivity in outreach programs; and
  • Lead mainstreaming processes on conflict sensitivity and do no harm principle through actual outreach case studies.

 

Geographic Locations

Nine  villages in Wadi Khaled - Akkar

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, training and coaching sessions will be delivered online when could not be delivered physically. These will be agreed on with Search depending on the context. 

 

Deliverables

The roles and responsibilities of the consultant will include:

  • Coordinate with Search  to develop the training content, methodology, agenda, clear objectives, expectations of each session, and training materials in consultation with the project management team;
  • Deliver virtual or physical training sessions on the topic mentioned above to  representatives from women and youth from Wady Khaled;
  • Ensure the quality, timely, inclusive and creative implementation of the training opportunities, and guarantee the active engagement of all participants;
  • Use the M&E tools for example: pre and post-tests, in coordination with Search’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and project teams;
  • Provide follow up coaching sessions (2 per group, 4 in total) after the completion of the training, ensuring effective and sustainable training outcomes;
  • Submit a final assessment report on the training sessions, in line with Search reporting requirements and standards.

 

Requirements of Consultant

The following skills and experience are expected by Search for the consultant:

  • Bachelor degree in Conflict studies, International Relations, Political Science, Development studies, Humanitarian Affairs or a relevant domain;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of training and consultancy;
  • Previous experience in delivering remote/online trainings;
  • Proven experience in the design, development, and delivery of similar trainings and designing evaluation forms and pre and post-tests;
  • Ability to tailor training modules to the specific needs of trainees;
  • Strong knowledge of the Wadi Khaled context is preferred;
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in working with international organizations;
  • Training will be conducted in Arabic - Reporting will be conducted in English.
