About the Project

Search is implementing a four-year project called “Advancing Inclusive Peace and Security” in the Levant and Yemen. The project’s overall goal is to strengthen women and youth’s meaningful, enduring participation in advancing inclusive peace and security in the Levant and Yemen.

The project aims to 1) to consolidate Women Rights Organisations (WRO) and Youth-Led Organisations’ (YLO) strategic engagement and influence in municipal and national peace and reconciliation processes; 2) to motivate key sub-national and national institutions to strengthen inclusive policies and standards facilitating inclusive youth and women’s participation in peace and security; 3) to promote shifts in social norms around women and youth’s meaningful inclusion in peace and security at all levels, including stronger alliances with men and boys.

 

Consultancy Summary

The ‘Organizational Capacity Building Trainers’ will support the project participants in developing skills and retaining knowledge depending on the needs identified by Search.

S/he/They will be under the direct supervision of the project coordinator and in close coordination with the local focal points to support in the implementation of the training sessions.

 

Goals and Objectives of the Consultancy

The goal of the organizational training is to support the WROs and YLOs in developing the needed skills and knowledge to sustain their work and if possible, expand. The purpose of this training is to strengthen their organizational capacities and operational efficiency to become competitive applicants to various funding opportunities. By the end of the training period, the organizations should be able to set organizational  goals and objectives, devise operational plans and systems (finance, procurement, logistics, M&E, HR, safeguarding etc…), understand basic fundraising and donor relations, build coalitions and relationships with strategic allies, and conduct strategic advocacy, enabling them to gradually increase their reach and influence.

To be able to determine the needs of the participating organizations, Search is conducting a capacity assessment. Based on the results, the trainers will be requested to provide multi-day traditional training on a specific topic to a group of representatives, and/or, the trainers might be requested to provide specific and targeted coaching sessions to one or two organizations.

The interested candidates should indicate which expertise they can provide within their application. If a firm is applying, please list the experts and provide their CVs.

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Training for 18 organizations (2 groups for 3 half-days each);
  • Coaching sessions for 3 organizations (one or two sessions per organization).
  1. Procurement and Logistics:
  • Training for 16 organizations (2 groups for 3 half-days each);
  • Coaching sessions for 5 organizations (one or two sessions per organization, if there are similar needs we could hold combined sessions for two organizations).
  1. Finance:
  • Training for 13 organizations (2 groups for 3 half-days each);
  • Coaching sessions for 8 organizations (one or two sessions per organization, if there are similar needs we could hold combined sessions for two organizations).
  1. Human Resources:
  • Training for 17 organizations (2 groups for 3 half-days each);
  • Coaching sessions for 4 organizations (one or two sessions per organization).

Additional topics not yet assessed include: Safeguarding and Protection and Gender Mainstreaming.

The sessions will be delivered remotely in Arabic but all reporting to the Search team should be in English.

 

 Expected deliverables
  • Training/Coaching modules and agenda: including any powerpoint presentations, handouts and additional resources to be shared with the trainees to be submitted at least two weeks before the proposed start date of the training;
  • Training/Coaching sessions (the number depends on the topic and assessment, for the training session, we will also rely on the recommendation of the trainer): including pre-post tests or policy specific assessments;
  • Final report: the template will be shared with the trainer by the Search team and is to be submitted within one week of the end of the training/coaching.

 

Timeline

Between June 2023 and October 2023. Depending on the number of topics the candidates are able to train on and the number of sessions per topic.

 

Required Profile

Search is looking for independent consultants/trainers to apply for this opportunity with the following profiles:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience training in the topic proposed;
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic;
  • Experience in training design, delivery and facilitation;
  • Experience in working with international organizations;
  • Solid communication skills, cultural awareness and sensitivity; and,
  • Ability to work with people from various social and professional backgrounds and at all levels.

Also, recommended but not required:

  • A degree in the topic proposed or closely related;
  • Knowledgeable of local contexts; and,
  • Knowledge on Women, Peace and Security; Youths, Peace and Security.
