Search for Common Ground (Search) is an international conflict transformation NGO that aims to transform the way individuals, groups, governments, and companies deal with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative solutions. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, and Brussels, Belgium, with field offices in 35 countries, SFCG designs and implements multifaceted, culturally appropriate and conflict-sensitive programs using a diverse range of tools, including media and training, to promote dialogue, increase knowledge and determine a positive shift in behaviors.

Overview of Position:

The Field Officer Assistant will support the Project Field Officer in organising networking meetings bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, conducting dialogue sessions on pressing issues on the local level, in addition to supporting research and local-level CSO sub-grant initiatives. More specifically, the Field Officer Assistant will be responsible of the day-to-day operations in the areas of implementation with the guidance of the Field Officer, ensuring that activities run smoothly and achieve high-quality results. These activities are part of the implementation of a 7-month project aiming to empower civil society actors to lead peacebuilding and conflict transformation , and working on strengthening their role in meeting local needs in a comprehensive method and constructive approach.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Specific roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Field Officer in research that will include an Area Assessment and CSO Stakeholder Mapping in the project area. The research will help to develop a common vision for the project team and an action plan for the implementation of the project at the local level.
  • Support the Field Officer in conducting regular subsequent research on conflict transformation to be conducted in the area of operations through ensuring contact with relevant stakeholders and organizing related activities in area of operation.
  • Support the Field Officer in the design and organisation of training workshops held in Beirut and/or online.
  • Support the Field Officer in planning and organising three local dialogue sessions in the targeted areas, between project partners, community members and local influencers.
  • Assist in drafting monthly progress and activity reports.
  • Attend inception workshops and trainings organised by Search.
  • Support the Field Officer in creating and maintaining positive and professional relationships with relevant stakeholders in area of operation including partners, community leaders, civil society actors and marginalized groups.
  • Support the Field Officer to ensure necessary prior arrangements are made for all project related activities.
  • Support the Field Officer in developing action plans, collecting financial documentation, reviewing activity reports, and ensuring timely submission to Search.
  • Develop and maintain project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions.
  • Maintain regular written and oral reporting with Search’s project team in its Beirut office.
  • Implement the financial and administrative systems necessary for the execution of the project.
