An expert in Digital Advocacy for the project entitled “Diwan” implemented in Wadi Khaled –Akkar, funded by Global Affairs Canada that aims to promote Inclusive Governance Mechanisms working with youth, women and local authorities.

The aim of this two years project is to establish inclusive Governance mechanisms and initiating dialogue between stakeholders to address tensions between and within communities. The overarching idea behind the project is to increase the participation of the marginalized groups (Youth, women and refugees) in the decision making process within the newly established municipalities of Wadi Khaled, and to highlight the current situation of the neglected area.

Your contribution…

Under the coordination of Search’s project Manager, he/she will be responsible to develop and deliver a 4 days training for the Advisory board who’s responsible of reflecting the local needs and working on advocating towards a better participation in the decision making process . More over the expert will be responsible of delivering a manual on advocacy techniques that consists on:

A - Advocacy:

                Advocacy training should include the following as a minimum:

  • Defined objectives and targeted audience   
  • How to develop and mentor an idea supported by advocacy
  • Campaign selection criteria 
  • Develop the message, identify the right tools, develop an implementation plan for better public awareness
  • Develop plans to support the objective of the project.

 

B - Creative content for advocacy campaigns:

Train the participants on the following as a minimum:

 

  • New multimedia tactics and techniques, and how to use them effectively in the new media to highlight their work on advocacy campaigns.
  • Social media strategies, facilitated by the Internet, digital, and mobile technologies and platforms.

 

You meet the following qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge in advocacy, creative content and the Syrian context
  • At least five (5) years of progressively advanced professional training in the mentioned field,
  • Proven familiarity in working with community activists and having an excellent understanding of the conflict issues and community security
  • Fluency in Arabic (the language of the training) and English (report should be in English)
  • Flexibility in communication and understanding the cultural context

Previous experience in remote work and remote training
