Description: 

ROLE PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of the Case Management Officer and overall guidance from the Child Protection Coordinator, the Case Worker will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management and alternative care targeting vulnerable children and families.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3 - The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to:  Case Management Officer

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assess, refer, and follow-up with at-risk children and families (Case Management) while ensuring confidential documentation at all times.

- Conduct regular visits to communities and Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) to work with facilitators, outreach volunteers, and animators on the identification and referral of at risk-children.

- Provide information on existing social services and advise on how to access them.

- Submit weekly reports concerning the outreach activities, case load, and related challenges.

- Maintain files, registers, computer databases, and records in paper and electronic formats.

- Effectively communicate relevant information and ensure that work with individual cases is of quality.

- Work across different contexts (e.g. local communities, informal settlements, community spaces, etc.) with a particular focus on outreach, and support the identification and referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy and SOPs).

- Provide specific support to vulnerable children and identify children victims of violence, children engaged in worst forms of child labor, unaccompanied and separated children, and out-of-school children through regular home and field visits to the child and family, while developing a work and safety plan with the child.

- Participate in case management and coordination meetings.

- Work closely with other sectors and partners colleagues to enhance their capacity and skills to safely identify and refer potential cases.

- Comply with Save the Children policies and practices with respect to child protection, child safeguarding, Code of Conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, and other relevant policies and procedures; and perform other duties as agreed with the line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social Work (desirable) or Social Sciences

- Experience in working with at-risk children and families, and in case management within emergency response is desirable

- Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities

- Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms

- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and either English or French

- Ability to collect data, develop schedules, and write weekly and monthly reports

- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours in the event of major emergencies

- Commitment  to  and  understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
