Call for Partnership – Igniting Learning Minds

 

Purpose of the call

Right to Play Lebanon is seeking a local CSO/partner to lead with RTP on the implementation of an Education in Emergencies project (titled ILM short for Igniting Learning Minds) in the area of Beirut.

Organizational Overview 

Right To Play is a global organization, using the transformative power of play to educate and empower children and youth facing adversity. Through play-based learning and games, Right To Play helps over one million children learn through play to create better futures, while driving lasting social change in more than 20 countries each week. Founded in 2000 by social entrepreneur and four-time Olympic gold medalist Johann Olav Koss, Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Canada and has national fundraising offices in Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In Lebanon, Right to Play was established in 2006 with programming covering North Lebanon, South Lebanon, Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and Bekaa. Right to Play’s programs are inclusive of all nationalities, backgrounds, and orientations, and is catered primarily for children and young people as well as caregivers, and adult teachers and facilitators. In 2023, Right to Play in Lebanon reached more than 24,000 children with child protection, education, and livelihood services all delivered with prominent focus on play, sports, and cultural/arts-based means.

General overview ILM Project

 

The goal of the ILM Project is to support vulnerable children in Beirut affected by displacement to achieve improved literacy outcomes.

The project aims to improve reading and listening skills for 450 girls and boys affected by the crisis, aged 6 to 14 living in Beirut.

 

The above goal will be achieved through a 3-pronged approach stemming from the following objectives and activities:

 

Objective I: Ensure 450 children have access to improved safe and inclusive learning environments along with ample reading materials.

I.I. Two shelters/learning centers will undergo rehabilitation to foster safe learning spaces.

I.II. Six learning spaces will be refurbished with adequate reading materials and tools to enhance the quality of learning.

 

Objective II: Enhance teaching practices aby integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies and play-based methodologies into classroom instruction.

II.I. Thirty teachers/community educators will be trained and coached on how to provide community and play-based PSS and PFA interventions, play-based learning methodologies, and SEL strategies.

II.II Monthly Communities of Practice (COPs) will be held at each shelter/learning center, fostering educator collaboration, sharing best practices, and enhancing professional development.

 

Objective III: Empower parents to actively engage their children in learning through play.

III.I 100 parents will receive parental toolkits and training in techniques to effectively participate in their children’s learning process.

III.II Monthly COPs will be organized at each shelter/learning center to promote parental engagement by sharing best practices and experiences to enhance children’s well-being.

 

 Required qualifications, and eligibility of the prospective partner:

  • To be accepted by MEHE under the yearly EOI.
  • To have access to community shelters or community learning centers in Beirut.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing SEL projects.
  • Partnership is only open for national organizations and civil society partners.
  • Proven 5 years and more of experience and knowledge working and operating in Beirut.
  • Proven 5 years and more of experience in planning and implementing education projects with focus on SEL.
  • Evidence of experience in conducting training/coaching sessions with teachers and educators who work with vulnerable communities.

N.B. This EOI should be seen a pre-qualifying measure for RTP to identify a suitable pool of partners to implement the project. Selected partners on basis of the EOI will undergo a partnership assessment and will be approached to submit a budget, workplan, and relevant project document.
