A. Emergency Response Field Work
- Conduct rapid psychosocial needs assessments with child and adult survivors of the Beirut explosion.
- Provide psychological first aid (PFA) to adult and child survivors.
- Provide individual and group, community-based psychosocial support to adult and child survivors.
- Refer survivors to Restart Center’s clinics for specialized services, if needed.
- Refer survivors to other agencies for assistance, if needed (legal, shelter, etc.)
- Complete a field record sheet for each day spent on the field.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team present with you on the field (including nurses, social workers, and other specialists).
- Actively able to move from one site to another (e.g. shifting locations from tents to schools, or from tents to streets/homes).
B. Restart Center’s Beirut Office
- Collaborate with Restart Center’s multidisciplinary team.
- Administer psychological screening assessments to adult and/or child beneficiaries (at baseline, throughout the course of treatment, and at the end of treatment).
- Prepare a treatment plan for each beneficiary (and make adjustments if/when needed).
- Conduct individual therapy sessions with beneficiaries to address symptoms and treatment progress.
- Participate in family therapy sessions as a ‘shadow therapist’ if the situation necessitates such intervention.
- Participate in couple’s therapy sessions if the situation necessitates such intervention.
- Submit record sheets for each session conducted with the beneficiary.
- Submit a discharge plan for each beneficiary who has completed the course of treatment.
- Submit mental health reports concerning some beneficiaries (if requested by Restart Center’s partners).
- Submit evaluation sheets and follow-up checklists on a monthly basis using a pre-assigned template.
- Conduct home visits for urgent cases if needed.
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, peer supervisions, case studies and capacity building opportunities.
- Participate in care-for-caregivers activities (including debriefing sessions).
- Attend individual and peer supervision sessions with Restart Center’s Clinical Advisor (biweekly at first, then once per month).
- Attend individual and peer supervision sessions with a senior psychologist at Restart Center (weekly at first, then biweekly)
- Abide by Restart Center’s policies and bylaws.
Qualifications:
- Clear understanding of DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnoses.
- Clear understanding and execution of the “do no harm” and “non-discrimination” principles.
- Ability to work under pressure and within strict timelines.
- Ability to work with emergency response teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with trauma survivors.
- Integrity, honesty, flexibility and a good team worker.
- Fluency in verbal and written Arabic and English (understanding of French is an asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
