Red Oak is a Lebanese NGO. It promotes innovative approaches to existing social, educational and cultural structures through education, art, art therapy and mental health, for the protection of children, and the empowerment of women and girls, with a special attention for people with disabilities. It uses empowerment to foster and implement new ideas by promoting creative processes, thoughts and tools.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Previous experience in the provision of Psychosocial support sessions for caregivers and how to deal with their children and support them during emergencies and crises.
  • The ability to understand the impact caused by the traumatizing events during emergency situations on both caregivers and children.
  • Demonstrate very good and experienced facilitation skills that make them eligible to conduct the sessions in a professional manner while respecting the Do No Harm humanitarian principle.
  • Demonstrating the ability to communicate positively, in an effective and interactive way, in addition to conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage the group of caregivers in regards to the existing dynamic.
  • Ability to handle the different situations that can happen during the emotional support sessions in a professional manner.
  • Ability to manage the time and resources properly.
  • Being flexible in adapting the intervention and priorities with the field requirements amidst emergencies, taking into consideration the objectives and agreement that is set by the caregivers themselves. 
  • Ensure participation of caregivers in the focused program in a non-discriminatory as well as age and gender-sensitive and appropriate approach.
  • Ensure that the caregivers feel safe, comfortable, and respected during activities.
  • Collects and documents feedback on the implementation of the methodology including challenges and lessons learnt.
  • Ensure that caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms.
  • Ensure sector-specific tools (example: satisfaction or wellbeing survey), as well as any specific organization assessment tools, are implemented (PPAT – Satisfaction Surveys – etc.).
  • Collect attendance of participants in the activities, and fill in weekly reports as required;
  • Respect and abide by the organization’s internal code of conduct and child protection policy;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • The ability and experience to provide the sessions with a co-facilitator to the caregivers in a collaborative manner.
  • University degree in psychology, social work, and/or social sciences.
  • At least 5 years working with caregivers and providing them with focused non-specialized PSS.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills (including active listening),
  • Good in written and spoken Arabic; Knowledge of English is an asset,
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to work in volatile environments,
  • Knowledge in Child Protection minimum standards or principles,
  • Previous experience in working with refugees or/and vulnerable populations is a must,
  • Comfortable in communicating in both Arabic and English languages (English for reporting is a must),
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, and PowerPoint,
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to work in volatile environments,
  • Experience in the remote modality of activities’ implementation is a plus,
  • Experience in the provision of emergency response is a plus,
  • Knowledge in Safe Identification and Referral is a must.
  • Knowledge in Psychological First Aid is a must.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in Child protection principles, and their application in emergencies.
  • Facilitation skills and experience in delivering training are a must.
  • Previous experience in the implementation of focused non-specialized psychosocial activities with children and caregivers.
  • Knowledge in implementing remote modalities of focused Psychosocial sessions.
  • Positively interact with caregivers and encourage them to express their needs and ensure their safety.
