Description:

Regenerate Hub is growing our mission to make data and circular economy solutions accessible to all, especially in the MENA region. regeneratehub.org is an online circular economy platform to strengthen nature-based solutions. This tool centralizes and visualizes information and actions through cross sector data mapping, untangling interconnected challenges from micro to macro alternatives to spread holistic system change. The team is looking for an experienced UX Research consultant to help refine current user experience and design a new set of features.

This is a temporary consultancy position that will require some in-person methodologies such as focus groups and we prefer candidates who can travel to Beirut for such activities.

The opportunity: Regenerate Hub presents an innovative solution to data transparency and collaboration issues in Lebanon and the surrounding region. The beta platform was completed in January 2022 and site features currently include: 1) user registration and profiles, 2) data collection/contribution tools, 3) data filtration and visualization in multiple forms, 4) a project management tool to aid in collaboration between groups, 5) a digital library, 6) a forum for users to connect, and 7) a chatbot for the public to ask questions.

In this next phase of product development, we are partnering with the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Environment in Lebanon to achieve our shared goals in data collection, digitization, and developing a new tech module to actively facilitate municipal and industrial zero waste and circular economy transitions in Lebanon. To do so, we need a UX researcher to aid in refining some existing features and collaborating with us to design new tools to meet this shared goal.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop a research plan and conduct studies (e.g., interviews, concept tests, surveys, focus groups) to develop the best product for our various users and stakeholders
  • Workshop research observations to make immediate, actionable decisions with our development team
  • Understand existing and new product requirements and, based on research outcomes, determine the best way to represent / visualize those requirements on the platform.
  • Build case studies to evangelize the product
  • Summarize learnings and analyses in creative ways

What you’ll work on:

Updating UX: Based on feedback from our users, we need to update the data collection and management tools on the front end. We will need a UX researcher to collaborate with our development team to go over the findings from the feedback and collect additional inputs from users as necessary to refine these user flows.

Creation of a “share economy” module: Waste is both a problem and a resource in Lebanon, however, the value of waste is often lost. The MoE and MoI are aiming to better collaborate to redirect post-consumer materials for use in local industry. This aim coincides with Regenerate Hub’s mission to catalyze circular economy actions through creation of a share economy module. Together, we will develop an additional map “mode” on our main view where users can visualize material flows and get on demand information about the value of materials in circulation to facilitate material “matchmaking” for sale, barter, or trade. A UX researcher will develop a research plan to discover the specific needs of our stakeholders/users.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 3+ years conducting research in a product development environment (ethnographic contexts is a plus)
  • Understanding or experience working on complex, technical applications
  • Methodological skills in the social sciences/human-centered design space
  • Fluency in Arabic and English
  • Experience in the Lebanese context and high cultural competency
  • Understanding of the environmental, economic, and political challenges in Lebanon and the MENA region

We will work to ensure individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the interview process and to perform essential job functions. Please let us know if you require accommodation.
