The Livelihoods Project Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, overseeing, and implementing direct livelihood provision activities. This is achieved through supporting the related areas of rural development, which will include promoting employment and income through increasing productivity in agriculture and allied sectors, promoting market development, and the development of small and medium enterprises. The Livelihoods Project Manager will liaise on enhancing linkages with the private sector, financial institutions, and technical services, to support improved and sustainable livelihoods options.

Detailed Job Description:

  • Provides leadership, management, and technical direction for the livelihoods program, in coordination with Area Manager based on the sector and region working on.
  • Supervises and ensures the implementation of all livelihood activities in the field, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Plans and implements livelihood activities with the guidance of the Area Manager and Livelihoods Project Manager, including, but not limited to: life skills trainings, business management trainings, design of business plans, feasibility studies, and provision of grants for small businesses or self-employment.
  • Provides assistance to the organisation in the development of strategies for overall sustainable livelihoods development.
  • Diversifies the livelihood options for the target communities particularly by introducing activities which add value to the traditional crops/products and technologies.
  • Upholds the professional standards related to Livelihoods programming in humanitarian assistance. 
  • Develops a strong understanding of the organisation’s Livelihoods procedures and standards.
  • Contributes to the development of concept notes, logical frameworks, and proposals as needed.
  • Assists in the identification of strong local partners and potential programme synergies to develop for future opportunities.
  • Upholds the highest standard of confidentiality when managing records to ensure beneficiary dignity and privacy.
  • Follows up with Accountability to respond to feedback from areas of implementation to strengthen Livelihood sector approach.
  • Ensures Projects meet grant requirements including time frame, resource allocation, scope, and risk management.
  • Works with other department managers to ensure crosscutting and multi sector program capacity.
  • Provides regular updates to the Area Manager and updates monthly situation report and Grant performance Tracker.
  • Establishes and implements internal weekly/monthly reporting system in coordination with Area Manager and MEAL department, including accurate figures of distributions/referrals done and challenges encountered, all in the agreed format.
  • Reports to the Food Security and Livelihood program Lead.

  • Technical expertise in sustainable livelihoods, local economic development.
  • Experience in leading teams effectively and in resolving conflict.
  • Detail-oriented and high level of constructive attitude and proactivity.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agri-Business is a must.

  • Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, Management, or related field is a plus.

  • At least two years’ of proven experience in Agri-Business, and working in the private sector. 

Languages

  • Excellent command of Arabic and English language (writing, reading, and speaking fluently)
  • French or any other language is a plus
