  1. Role and responsibilities

The role of the Health, Safety, and Security Assistant (HSSA) is to assist the Health, Safety, and Security Coordinator (HSSC) in conducting all HSS related tasks at Lebanon Country Office in addition to Area Offices and Field Offices. S/He will ensure that all NRC staff in Lebanon have access and support that is required for HSS related documents.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  2. Assist with the implementation of the HSS function portfolio according to plan of action.
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the HSS function.
  6. Assist in updating all relevant HSS documents at country and area office levels.
  7. Participate and assist in the production of all HSS related documents, Security Risk Assessments, Country Security Reports and security packs at country and area office levels.
  8. Conduct physical verifications or all HSS related equipment.
  9. Provide support to area and field offices as required .
  10. Carry out related mainstreaming of protection in programme daily implementation as per the set NRC’s Protection mainstreaming guidelines, and ensure reporting any breaches/concerns to the line manager for proper action.

 

Specific responsibilities

  1. Assist in the production of the country weekly security report.
  2. Participate in the production of rapid security risk assessments, full security risk assessments, and workshops.
  3. Control and inspect all HSS and medical equipment issued and distributed in the country.
  4. Co-facilitate HSS trainings for staff and produce needed training reports in a timely and accurate manner. 
  5. Update and control the online security pack for country and area offices.
  6. Update and control the content of the Lebanon country office online files and reports at the regional office.
  7. Participate in capacity building as directed by the line manager to maintain an in-house capacity on HSS related trainings.
  8. Participate or individually perform internal security audits as requested by the line manager.
  9. Oversee and control the security briefing protocols for country and area offices.
  10. Conduct any other HSS related tasks as requested by the line manager.

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position:

  • All Country level security staff
  • Human Resources staff involved in HSS
  • Compliance unit
  • HSS Field Officers
  • UNDSS security technical staff
  • INGO security technical staff

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a HSS related position
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload in a rapidly changing work environment
  • Previous experience from working with documents that require verification and control
  • Good coordination and control skills
  • Background in implementation and training for HSS related work
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal

Context related skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Solid knowledge of Situation in Lebanon
  • Proficiency in office 365 and on-line related platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products with solid knowledge of Excel word PowerPoint and Outlook
