Community Liaison Officer (Two Months Contract)

Following the expansion of MAG Lebanon’s operations over the past year and in preparation for the post-war emergency, the demand for Community Liaison (CL) support has significantly increased. The CL team has grown accordingly, now comprising 14 members who are actively involved in Non-Technical Surveys, Rubble Removal Surveys, and Rapid Response Surveys in both South Lebanon and Bekaa West.
Due to the increased demand for Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) for returning individuals, there is an urgent need for additional support within MAG Lebanon program for Community Liaison Officers for a period of two months starting January 2025.
Preference is given for EORE activists who have been trained and accredited by LMAC in 2024.
Principal Responsibilities
CL team responsibilities will vary according to needs but may include:
Community Liaison:
1. Community Liaison in support of clearance activities – visiting the communities before, during and after clearance.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, authorities, non-government organisations (NGO), other potential sources of information;
3. Serve as a focal point for provincial, district, commune, and village representatives in assigned areas of responsibility;
4. Collect and regularly update beneficiary and land use data for clearance tasks.
5. Collect and document case studies to demonstrate the impact of MAG work and to show the problems caused by Mines/ UXOs.
6. Collect Pre and Post-clearance Impact Assessment data in communities.
7. Gather information according to the clearance needs (Pre and during Clearance).
8. Support in dealing with communities as required by operations department.
Explosive Ordinance Risk Education (EORE):
1. Deliver EORE to raise awareness about mines and UXO amongst target groups using agreed methodologies.
2. Complete accurate and timely EORE activity reports.
Communication and Reporting
1. Highlight to the CL Team Leader any requirement for further action within the operational area.
2. Liaise with the CL Team leader regarding results and discuss possible future improvements (to pass on to CLM).
3. Build and maintain good working relationships with all staff to maximise capacity building objectives and share learning.
4. Collaborate within a team and engage with other MAG staff and Mine Action professionals to facilitate the effective exchange of information related to Mine Action matters, contributing to the success of the MAG Lebanon program.
5. Ensure that the CLTL is kept well informed and updated on all tasks with respect to current progress, recommendations, and any difficulties encountered which may affect MAG activities or reputation.
6. Request the assistance and support of the CLTL/ CLS/ CLM upon need.
7. Check the quality of all information/ maps before leaving the field and before passing the info to the CLTL.
8. Assist in information management as required.
9. Provide Weekly & Monthly reports about his/ her activities in the field.
10. Complete other reports as advised by the CLM.

10. Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
