Description: 

As a Health Case worker and assistant to the Mercy-USA Project Manager, the health case worker will have the following key responsibilities:

 

- Evaluate and visit beneficiaries selected by UNRWA who need support for surgery, hospitalization or neonatal care.

- Help in filling application for beneficiaries, and following the criteria set by Mercy-USA

- Collect and maintain detailed data files for each assessed patient and selected beneficiary

- Follow-up with beneficiaries on their surgery and post-surgery care services

- Monitor and assess service delivery to ensure that they are effective

- Reporting and maintaining all relevant documentation for each patient

- Maintain contact with UNRWA and hospitals regarding patients and approvals for surgeries and other health care services.

- Receive the referrals from UNRWA and ensure that all the patients referred fall under the eligibility criteria of the project and the UNRWA’s SOP

- Double-check the patients medical files that need surgeries, and consult a specialized physician if needed

- Prepare relevant letters of commitments with partners

- Support in the initiation of the project activities

- Follow up daily on implementation and financial tasks with contracted hospitals

- Visit regularly patients who underwent surgeries to ensure best health outcomes

- Coordinate with the project officer for any technical issues

- Conduct outreach medical follow up or home visits if needed

- Report directly to the project officer

- Ensure Mercy-USA core values as well as humanitarian codes are reflected in everyday activities  

 

Minimum Hiring Requirements: 

 

- Degree in a health related field

- Strong English oral and written skills

- Fluency in Arabic a must

- Experience with NGOs would be an asset

- 2 years experience in health sector

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to work in a team, strong staff management and leadership skills

- Good organizational skills, proactivity and ability to work autonomously

- Flexibility and adaptability

- Very good reporting skills
