Description: 

-Function responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
  • Coordinates activities of counseling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services.
  • Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psycho social needs
  • Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
  • Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
  • Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
  • When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
  • Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MH activity manager
  • Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager.
  • Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential

 

-Specific activities:

  • Ensure quality Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities are implemented at the project level, by training and monitoring medical and paramedical teams of the project (Mental Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Health Promotion, Extended Program on Immunization, Pharmacy)
  • Spearhead community-based mental health interventions under the guidance of mental health manager (awareness in community with Health Promotion team, partnering with traditional healers and community leaders for mental health promotion in the community, empower community through psychoeducation sessions)
  • Network with other actors in the region and establish a referral pathway through Medical Referral Officer and Social Worker
  • Collaborate closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist to support and participate in the improvement and monitoring of the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP)
  • Ensure the multi-disciplinary case discussions take place for complex and/or sensitive cases received by the MH team
  • Ensure the bilateral meetings between the psychologist, counselor and the mhGAP GP are regularly taking place for the co-management of the mhGAP patients
  • Work closely with the medical team in responding to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) issues of patients and in the catchment area
  • Monitor the referral process between the counselor and the psychologists and ensure that the moderate and complicated cases are managed by the psychologists and the mild ones are managed by the counselor
  • Build capacity of the mental health team and encourage them to participate in trainings provided by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and outside MSF
  • Ensure integration of MSF activities into Makassed and provide supervision to mental health activities carried out in Makassed
  • Perform regular file audits in mental health and mhGAP, address the findings with involved staff and report any concerns to the PMR and MHAM.

 

-Experience required:

  • Essential: 2 years of previous work experience as a clinical Psychologist.
  • Desirable: 2 years of previous experience in MSF or other (I)NGO’s
  • Desirable: Previous experience with mhGAP program and/or Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) activities

 

-Required qualification:

  • Essential: Recognized Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Essential: License to practice Clinical Psychology in Lebanon, issued by the Ministry of Public Health
  • Desirable: Certificate of registration at the order of Psychologists in Lebanon
