Main Purpose

 

Participate in the planning, supervision, and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the program in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.

Accountabilities

 

  • Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in MSF Mental Health programs and activities.
  • Coordinate activities of counselling services with other relevant actors in the area and liaise with them on mental health matters, including referral services.
  • Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards to provide the most appropriate support for patients with psycho-social needs.
  • Liaise with other MSF team members of the project.
  • Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required.
  • Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
  • When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
  • Compile the data and statistics linked with MH activities and report to the MH activity manager.
  • Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors and psychologists in collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager.
  • Ensure the patients’ related information is kept confidential.

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

 

 

  • In close collaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrist, support and participate in the implementation and monitoring of the Mental Health Gap Action Program (mhGAP).
  • Ensure the multi-disciplinary team meetings are regularly taking place.
  • Ensure the bilateral meetings between the psychologists and the General Practitioners (GPs) are regularly taking place for the co-management of the mhGAP patients.
  • Monitor the referral process between the counselor educators (CE) and the psychologists and ensure that the moderate and complicated mental health cases are managed by the psychologists and that the mild ones are managed by the CEs.
  • Ensure that all the medical team is sensitized on mental health and trained on Psychological First Aid (PFA), detection and referral of mental health cases.
  • Promote the professional development of mental health staff, assess their training needs and encourage participation in relevant internal and external training opportunities.
  • Participate with all the team in implementing the sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the focal point as per the SGBV protocol so that they receive the necessary treatment.
  • Perform regular file audits in mental health and mhGAP, address the findings with involved staff and report any concerns to the PMR and MHAM.

Requirements

 

 

Education

  • Essential: Master’s degree in Psychology from a recognized university
  • Essential: License to practice as a psychologist from the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon

 

Experience

  • Essential: 2 years’ experience as a clinical Psychologist.
  • Desirable: Previous management/supervision experience in the field of mental health.
  • Desirable: Previous experience with mhGAP program and/or Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) activities

 

Knowledge

  • Essential: Advanced computer literacy (excel, word, outlook)

 

 

Languages
